Stephanie’s Confessions of a Book-a-Holic tagged me with The Thinking Blogger Award. I was as surprised as a puppy when it meets its first porcupine.

In the same set of comments, Geeky Streak tagged me with The Thinking Blogger Award. At that point, you could have knocked me over with a feather.

Now, I have to put on my thinking cap and tell you what I thunk. The goal of the meme is to “tag blogs with real merits, i.e. relative content, and above all - blogs that really get you thinking!” I’m tagging 10 people, in no particular order of preference, who all do just exactly that.
DRUMROLL, PLEASE:
MeeAugraphie is sublime poetry. Marcia puts in words what my heart thinks, but hasn’t the ability to say. She makes me ache to be able to express (so succinctly) the magnificence and wonder of the world around me. Since I can’t, I read what she writes.
J’s Thoughts & Musings. Jenny, besides being one of the nicest people I have never met, makes me think every day. She and her husband are raising three boys in the northeast, and she works full time, too. She still has time to fiddle with the css on her Blogger blog AND help a stray waif like me. I found this post, about parenting a college teen, to be very thought provoking, but I love her Thursday Thirteens, too.
SusieJ is sensational. Go to her site and read her “about” section; read it first. Then read this which is her entry in Scribbit’s April Write Away Contest about “growth.” If those two don’t hook you, then there is no hope for you. This woman touches the heartstrings. I’ve just found her, and I’ll be back again and again.
Christine at Big Pink Cookie is a “techie.” She is always sharing news of the latest cool gadget or program or link that she found, and I have discovered tons of interesting things by reading her blog that I never would have found on my own. Christine is also a knitter, and a photographer. AND, she is the first blogger I’ve actually gotten to meet. She took pictures of me with my spinning wheel in Galveston this weekend.
Writer’s Cramps by Gattina is always a treat for me. She is what we call in my world “a storyteller’s storyteller.” I’d love to sit in a rocking chair with her and just shut up and listen, but that won’t happen because I don’t shut up and Gattina lives in Belgium. She has traveled the world over, and her posts often tell of her journeys, or her neighbors. She participates in a lot of memes, and never fails to get me giggling…. or thinking.
Frugal for Life is one of the first blogs I ever read, and I subscribed to it. Dawn works hard at providing tips and links for those who want to live a frugal life and those who want to think they do. Out of 10 points, she rates a 10 in my book, even though I only “lurk” on her site. I don’t feel qualified to comment.
my topography: the shape of daily life is breathtaking. She paints pictures with words. My words are not worthy to describe it, so just go lose yourself in her imagery.
Sandy and Kurt is a delightful site to visit. Sandy was a teacher in a “former life,” but now she’s a stay at home mom. Interspersed with the pictures of her adorable kids are snippets of wisdom and whimsy.
This is not my “token male.” It’s just a blog I enjoy. Least Significant Bits happens to be written by a guy named John. I like to read his reminiscences, which are often humorous and sometimes poignant. I also enjoy his photos. Maybe he can lead me to some other “guy blogs” to read!
Rose DesRochers has a site that always makes me ponder a new idea from a fresh perspective. I think it’s humorous that she has recently had some controversy because she mentions S-E-X on her site. It won’t take much reading to figure out that it isn’t a porn site(not that I would know, just in case my family or one of my patrons is reading this!). Her post on blogging etiquette is one that everyone out here commenting on blogs should read.
TA DA!
Friends, these ten people are all bloggers I admire and respect. I hope you will visit their sites, then come back here and tell me what you think. Many times I find new bloggers to admire by following the links in my comments. If you don’t comment, I might never find you. As for the ten bloggers I’ve named, it’s your turn to tell us the bloggers who are high on your list and pass the torch.
Here are the rules:
1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote (here is an alternative silver version if gold doesn’t fit your blog).
Thanks for the link
I’ve got some work to do.
Thanks for the linky love!
Oh, and your new site rocks.
Yes, Dawn, you do!
Sandy, I only link because I love you (well, your posts, anyway…I don’t know you well enough to “love” you, but I will). This new site doesn’t “rock” yet…but in 10 days, 5 hours and 49 minutes it might get redone! I’m not looking forward to that, or anything.
I look forward to seeing the sites you folks nominate.
Now I have to stop faking it! Thanks so much Shelly. Love the other sites you listed too — my topography does take my breath away.
Thank you for the award and link love. I’m honored.
Don’t seem surprised!! You totally deserved this “award”. Besides, it’s just my way of saying, Keep it Up!! I’m reading every day!
Thank you for the award, of course, it caused me to think, which meant I wrote a long post (to be posted tonight), and you’ve already figured I’m a procrastinator, (thinking makes a good excuse), but now I have to put procrastination on hold and get my awards out there, which requires more thinking. I see a cycle starting. I admit it, you made my day!
These are wonderful links! I have been reading Rose’s blog. You had it right. She’s a must read.
SusieJ, you aren’t “faking it!” Don’t be modest, girl, you are goood!
.
Rose & Marcia, I thank YOU. Y’all are part of why I enjoy reading blogs! I look forward to seeing who you pick.
Stephanie, honey, you can sit on the porch with me any day you want. I enjoy reading YOUR blog, too!
Shoshana, thanks for coming by…and for commenting. That means I have another blog I get to go see
I can see you and me in “one” Rocking chair, lol ! But you can be assured I wouldn’t squeeze you to a pancake, I have two Rocking chairs ! But I am very bad in vocal story telling (ask my son he already prefered tales in record version) and then I refuse to do my hair in a knot behind my head and wear round glasses before I start spitting on the book !
Well, Gattina, we could each have a rocking chair! Do you think storytellers do their hair in a knot and wear round glasses? That’s the stereotypical “librarian.” I had a link to a video of me telling a story on my other site. I’ll have to add it here, so you can see what storytelling is. I bet you are better at it than you think.

Hooray, ten more sites to visit. If you enjoy them, I know I will too!
ciao bella~
CeeCi
Yes, Dear CeeCi, and I couldn’t help but notice that your OTHER site at http://giardinodelpiacere.blogspot.com/
ALSO got the Thinking Blogger Award! Everyone go check THAT site. I’ve been visiting some of the ones you named and am totally blown away! Thank you again for nominating me.
Thank you Shelly! It has been a pleasure reading your blogs and I enjoy the emails. I have developed an appreciation for blogging and an addiction….now I have to go think of five other bloggers. Can I nominate you again?
Sweet of you to consider another nomination, but don’t dare! There are so many good blogs out there, and you find them all the time.
I’ve been enjoying writing to you, too. Hope all is well. The nomination was well deserved, my friend.
Awwww… thanks so much for including me on your list! Did you see, I posted a photo of the now happily engaged couple on my site? We might be getting together on Sunday for another shoot in downtown! Sweet!
I’m so glad we got to meet in person, that I got to photograph you, that we got to visit, and so on. Next time I make it up north, we will have to get together!
Well, I did see that happily engaged couple. They were so cute. It was good to meet you, too. I hope our paths cross again.~skt
