[Scroll down for my Thursday Thirteen]

Before I dash out the door for a
vital appointment (I have to go get my hair red—SHHH—don’t tell anybody!), I thought I’d jot a few notes to you.
Get over to SusieJ’s Thursday Thirteen! She has a contest with a prize of a $10 Starbucks gift certificate. All you have to do is define the 13 “Diner Slang” words she listed. You know what I mean. The words the waitresses used to holler at the cook! C’mon with words like “Frog sticks” and “Foreign Entanglements” you have to try it. God’s Truth, I answered them all five minutes after she put them up, but I made her take my comment down so that YOU would all go play! So, get over there or I get the coffee!
My friend Teamouse has TWO contest going on right now. She has an easy one that is just a random drawing for lovely tea towels that she is knitting herself. All you have to do is sign up, and then send people her way. What could be easier? Her second contest is a Mother’s Day Award. All you need to do is write a post about why you should win ‘Mother of the Year. Her husband will judge the contest, and you get a button for your sidebar and links (as well as the opportunity to tell YOUR side of the story!). What more do you want?
Yesterday, I noticed a lurker on my site and followed the link. I called him out for lurking and not speaking! And, I enjoyed the heck out of visiting his site! “The purpose of The Savvy Boomer is to help unravel the world of technology for “boomers” or anyone else who has been too busy working and living the past 3 or 4 decades.” That’s his stated purpose. But, it’s not just technology. He has well written articles on health, money savers, entertainment, shopping and more. I have bookmarked him, and intend to visit him regularly. It seems that he is bringing all the information I need together in one place.
I also found SmartWealthyRich.com. Jonathan is a writer out of Montreal. The posts that I have read so far have been about ways to increase your blogging success. Unlike many of the sites that do this, Jonathan seems to have a “writer’s soul” with a good grasp of the English language. He’s another bookmark!
You may not have noticed that I have another cute little button on my sidebar that says “I Dumped My Blog.” I followed another lurker and discovered a way to advertise your site for free (all it costs you is a link) AND get to find other interesting bloggers! It’s called Blog Dump, and though that sounds unattractive it is anything but! I’ve already checked out a few of the sites listed and am excited about finding more.
How do I find all these lurkers? I have a block of pictures on my sidebar provided by My Blog Log. It’s a blogging community that helps you find other like-minded bloggers, it offers stats, AND it helps me find those lurkers and call them out! Check it out and see if you want to join. If you do, I’d love to have you as part of my community!
I’ve been working to add links on my Link Love Page. I will try to keep it regularly updated. It’s more than my blogroll, so you might want to visit. You can borrow the purty little pitcher if you want it on your site.
Finally, please let me do a little Yippee Skippee Dance! Since April 2nd, when I got a stat counter installed on this site, I have had 6508 unique visitors! Since readers during my first four months of blogging only consisted my Big Bubba, my BFF, and my SU (spousal unit), I’m pretty pumped. Thank you ALL for visiting! ♥ ♥ ♥

Hi there! Just wanted you to know that I’ve been doing “Link Love” for the past several weeks…lots of fun! I really enjoy visiting your blog!!
I’m glad you picked up the idea, Jenny! I’ll drop by for a look later today. It will be fun to see who YOU chose.~skt
Thanks for the leads! I like going a-visitin’ to intelligent people. There are plenty that are a waste of time. I’m particularly looking forward to visiting the The Savvy Boomer. Does it matter that I’m in my 30’s? What a service you provide - screening other blogs for us.
Thanks for the link Shelly. I really appreciate it. I know my blog is fairly narrow in scope in that I write it mainly for the 50+ crowd but there may be the odd gem in there for you young whippersnappers
You’re on my RSS now so I look forward to staying in touch.
You are so welcome! I’m no whippersnapper…I’m a 50+…but there are some whippersnappers who come around. Hope they all go visit you, ’cause it’s worth the trip~skt
Thanks for the love ~hugs~!
Aren’t you a smarty pants getting all the answers right, first shot! I’ll have to pop on over and see how hard it was, I’ll bet I wouldn’t even guess one right.
Interesting info on lurkers - calling them out sounds like fun! Whooooo Ya!
I do like to call out lurkers. You are welcome for the link love…let me know if it helps. If not, I’ll shout at people. Hint, Hint…you can google all the words to get the answers.~skt
Their is nothing in the world like a little linky love
That’s what it’s all about!~skt
Oh I forgot to give you your props….on being a Featured Thursday Thirteener! You go girl!
Thank you, Tea! I was pretty surprised when I got home from my MAJOR APPOINTMENT to discover that I was on there. I’m tickled!~skt
Shelly, you are the happening blog. All I need to do is check here to find out what’s going on in the blogging community, and I’m set. Congrats on the stats. I’m thinking, seriously, though, maybe you could write the next Sue Grafton mystery — what is she on now, X?
I don’t know how many novels she has written…but writing a novel has got to be lots harder than blabbing on a blog!~skt
This was an excellent post!
Happy TT!
Thank you! And, thanks for stopping by!~skt
What an informative TT! Thanks for visiting mine!
Thanks, Cindy…~skt
