Y’all, I’m preparing myself to go out into “The Real World” today. Unfortunately, (or fortunately, as it were) occasionally I have a paying gig. I’m telling stories to a passel of second graders. Send up some prayers for me!
After I’ve done with them, I’ve decided to get myself a pedicure and a manicure. After looking at my hand in the picture on that last post, I can see it’s waaaay past the time, and maybe a hand massage will help the pain in these poor arthritic hands. Do y’all have arthritis? If you do, write me and tell me what works for you! I could actually shut up and listen if you have good advice.
But, I wanted to leave you with a few things to keep you busy.
First, I’ll list three posts from my archives that I’d love to think anybody read. Y’all know how you slave at a piece of writing and somehow you published it on the wrong day…..or you published it before you had an audience? It just sits there all lonesome-like in your archives. I want to dust three of them off. You have to excuse the wonky fonts, because they were transferred over from my Blogger account:
I thought of making this a meme, but it’s easy to get sick of getting tagged for those, isn’t it? So, I won’t tag anybody, but if you want to post a list three from your archives and let me know about it today, I’ll post it for everybody that I know tomorrow.
Second, I want to tell you about a blogger I discovered in my websurfing. His name is Damien Riley at Riley Central. Seriously, I read this post and it was love at first sight (don’t tell my husband!). The man is a masterful wordsmith. I immediately put him on my Google Reader AND marked him as a Technorati Favorite. You might, too.
Speaking of Technorati Favorite, do any of y’all do that? If so, have you updated it lately to spread around some link love? I’m working on mine.
Finally, I don’t know if any of you look at sidebars much. I’m getting in the mood to clean house. I want to make a drop down link list for my buttons, and maybe put my blogroll in a box. It was suggested that I increase the contrast between the font and the background. If you have suggestions, I’m open to them.
I’m probably going to do away with that button at the top about the Blogger’s Choice Awards, or at least move it to the bottom of the page. It was a sweet idea, but every time I click on it nobody else has voted for me, and it makes me feel like I’m back in High School. I ran with the dorky crowd back then. The folks who voted for me are all cool people, so that’s some comfort. I appreciate all of you. You are all my favorites!
You may have noticed that peace globe. Mimi Lenox has a dream. She dreams of a world at peace. On June 6th, 2007, she is encouraging bloggers to fly their peace globes or write about peace. As I wrote on my globe, “Those who never chase a dream never catch one.” Let’s all dream together, shall we?

Love your peace globe.
Having been kept awake all night recently by a failing smoke alarm battery you post “Fight Fire with batteries” brought home an annoying memory
The link to Riley Central doesn’t appear to work?
Better to have an annoying beep than a surprise fire! The blogosphere has been weird today (at least Mozilla has). The link does work, it just might have been during a wonky moment. Thanks for stopping to comment! I’ll look to see your peace globe, do you have one yet?~skt
Good luck! I am sure the kids will love you and your stories!
Thanks, Toni. I never need luck….just energy!! Little guys are a squirmy audience for an old woman!~skt
Oh yes, Miss Shelly, I have arthritis. I would like to give it away, but alas, it keeps coming back.
I soaked a long time in the tub with Batherapy last night. It’s pretty cheap and I swear, it helps.
Plus, it’s a great way to escape with a book.
Feel better. Have a great gig.
Hot water will be good. Right now my knuckles are in a “flare,” and it hurts, but it’s making me angry (maybe I should have asked for “anger remedies!”). I can’t read a book in the bath tub! How do you do that?
Good luck with the 2nd graders, I imagine they’d be fun to tell stories to!
No arthritis so far – but I’m sure it will come my way.
I did tag you with an ABC meme, you can save it for a day when you have nothing to post(does that even happen to you?)…..lol!
~hugs~
They are fun, Tea. Tell them a folk tale, and they ask, “Is that a true story??” I tell them, “It’s truly a story!” I saw that meme. Your’s is hilarious! hugs back~skt

Pearls of wisdom…a heavenly voice.
The world peace globe goes perfect there! =) Thanks for always coming across the neatest stuff. Many of us share your findings and are so thankful.
The title “Dona Nobis Pacem” is a song we sing in church it’s Latin of course and resonates with my spirit. Thanks for making me smile this morning. He is here…holding my hand.
Praying for a wonderful day as you story tell and share your humor and kindness.
PS A winner has already been announced for VOMM’s contest.
Thanks, Rosemarie. Dang! I meant to check out the contest and I got distracted! That’s what you get when you have the attention span the size of a gnat! ~skt
Loved the site you have linked. That guy is a riot!! I knew you wouldn’t steer me wrong.
I’m thinking if I want to be a world famous blogger, I’m going to have to take a crash course in technorati, RSS, and feeds because I am clueless.
Good luck with the second graders and the story. I’m sure they’ll enjoy it!!

E-mail me and we will talk back and forth. I’m finding good articles (though I don’t know I have the expertise to do what should be done). Isn’t there a website titled “The Blonde Leading the Blind?” Doesn’t matter—I’m a redhead. I just ACT like a blonde.~skt
Shelly,
Present for you on my blog today.
I SAW that, and it’s totally cool! Thank you!~skt
On the Arthritis front, Most of the YWCA gyms have heated therapy pools which can provide a great deal of comfort.
For immediate relief for hands at home. Fill one sink with water as hot as you can stand it and another with water as cold as possible with ice cubes. Alternate plunging the hands from one to the other at least ten times. it’s short term relief for the pain, but before bedtime allows you to get to sleep rather than fussing with the pain.
I’m not sure our town is big enough for a Y. The sink with hot water helped a little this afternoon. Guess I just need to get away from the computer more often. Like THAT’S going to happen!~skt
Good luck w. those second graders. Hand reflexology would/should ease the stiffness in your hands.
Thanks for the links I will check them out.
I’ve had foot reflexology. I was told it was almost as good as S-E-X. I don’t know who that person had been having S-E-X with! Reflexology is ok.

Do the Technorati thing and it automatically updates when I post anything. I think you are in my favs, but I think I’ll head over there and make sure that all my daily visits are in there. Thanks for the reminder.
I’ll go check out Riley Central as soon as I post this message.
On the Blogger’s Choice Awards, I’ve been stuck on 62 for a long time. You are not alone!
I dumped a bunch of stuff off my sidebar the other day. I am with you on the drop down menus though. I just have to figure out how to do it in the new blogger.
Have a great day. ♥
Thanks, Sandee. Check out Annie at BlogU for info about drop down menus.~skt
You reallllllllllllly don’t want to know what I have to take to control my RA.
Shelly,
Catching up here. I have an arthritis tip: Drink a teaspoon – tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in warm water each day. It really helps. It’s not bad. And of course, lots of yoga.
