Y’all, you ain’t even gonna believe this, but today I was gonna create a really excellent Thursday Thirteen. I was thinking about a whole lot of grand ideas. But, instead I found:
THE ULTIMATE THURSDAY THIRTEEN:
1) I woke up to find these little critters
ALL over my kitchen! Ants, Ants and more ANTS! Well, OK, they weren’t as cute as these. They are tiny and black and ICK! So I tried to find the source and I got distracted for a little while crawling under the cabinets and screaming “EWWW!” Good night, I squeal like a girl!
2) Then I decided I’d better clean the kitchen, to keep those nasty creatures out of there, and while I was at it, I remembered I needed to do a load of laundry because we didn’t have any clean underwear. Household chores took over for awhile. The Flylady would be so proud of me. Finally, I went to my office to get my notes.
3) I did HAVE some notes but the cat shredded them:

Lexus will try to tell you that he didn’t, but don’t believe a word he says.
4) There was a horrible banging at my front door! I opened it to find a little old lady who claimed to be my neighbor. I’ve never laid eyes on her in my life. The first words out of her mouth were, “You don’t work do you?” I thought to myself, “In a pig’s eye!” But, I was too polite to speak that way to my elder, and to tell you the truth I was delighted to see someone older than myself! I told her, “Yes ma’am, I have a job.” “Well wouldn’t you like to make some extra money?” she asked. I could see where this was going. She was trying to recruit me. I said, “Ma’am, I don’t want to sell anything.” But, as her training had taught her, she explained to me that I wouldn’t be “selling” I would be helping people switch from their old electric company to a new one so that they could save money. Didn’t matter how many times I told her “No, ma’am.” She kept hounding me for twenty minutes and I couldn’t see a way out of it without being rude. Finally, I distracted her with plants in the yard and offered to bring her some transplants of the lyre leaf sage that she admired. Then, I “heard the phone ringing” and told her I’d talk to her another day. Whew.
5) So I started back to work at the computer, but this sight greeted me.

When McGill wants attention, she gets it.
6) I gave her the required petting and such, and then walked back to the bathroom and discovered this:

With a bad hair day like that, I had to do something! So there went an hour on primping.
7) Well, back at my computer, I thought I’d allow myself one game of Ultimate Mahjongg…

…which sorta extended for about an hour, because time got away from me.
I wanted some inspiration, so I decided to go surfing, and discovered that Teamouse over at Tea Time Ramblings has a lovely new template. So I stopped to read again the meme for which she had tagged me. Hers is pretty funny, and I don’t think I could equal it. So, I had to think about that for a spell.
9)And SusieJ had a story that I stopped to read and enjoy. Then I saw that Jessica The Rock Chick at Life is RANTastic was having birthday, blog birthday and anniversary, so I had to read about that. Happy everything, Sister Chick.
10) Well, y’all know how when you start surfing things just happen. Before you know it I had found a site I had never visited called Gary Conn dot Com that had lots of wonderful information about Successful Blogging Tips. That took a couple of hours of reading.
11) All that tired me out, and I started having some hot flashes, too. My excuse for not doing things was PMS for the longest time, but now it’s menopause. Hey, don’t mess with me about it!
12) Well, I sat down to anxiously await the season finale of Ugly Betty! I don’t know why I love that show, but it’s about the only thing I watch. Boy was I ticked off when it didn’t come on. They had something else on! And, then I remembered it was only Wednesday.
13) I had wasted so much adrenaline, that I decided to just surf some more on the Wordless Wednesday list to get over my disappointment. Then I saw the post that Comedy Plus put up for her Wordless Wednesday (you have to scroll down to find it because she just keeps on posting) and that was the end of me!
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Title Deleted for Security Reasons has started an idea I thought was cool. She’s adding a little “link love” to the end of her TT post listing other TT postings that interest her. I’m blatantly stealing the idea and will add to it throughout the day! Good going!

Of course it’s always the cat ! That’s the same here. Supper or lunch is too salty, it was the cat who salted it. You brake a cup, of course the cat dropped it. Positive is, they never disagree !
I loved to play Majong too that was the only computer game I used, hated all the others cards included. But now with my 4 blogs to run I don’t have time anymore, I have to play Majong with my blogs (with the help of my cats of course)
I really enjoyed thid “Blog blow my dress up” contest, I have to do some follow up on reading because my “old” blog broke down and I had to move all my stuff to the new one ! I can tell you without any strong moving men, I now are on my knees, and of course missed things. Viva Bloogle Glogger !
Hey Gattina. Blogger did you wrong! Sorry you have had so much trouble with your site. Word Press. Word Press Word Press. That’s what I have to say. And, yes, my cats take a lot of the blame. With five of them I can spread it around!~skt
Ewww…ants!!
Great list.
Have a wonderful Thursday.
Ewww doesn’t begin to describe it! They make “evil Shelly” come out
~skt
LOL! Add in two demanding young ‘uns and you’ve described my every-day to a tee!
As my mother keeps reminding me -
Man plans, God laughs.
Wylie, I “feel for you, but I can’t reach you,” as my Daddy used to say. A friend of mine defined “experience.” It’s what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted! Keep on plugging.~skt
I need a cat to blame. I’ll just invent one, PB, I bet you know what it stands for and it isn’t peanut butter. I forgot to do my TT, had a good idea, I’m sure, but the cat I don’t have distracted me, then I read yours and started laughing. . . Better write it now. What gorgeous hair, no, not the cat’s.
I’m going to send you a cat. Right now. No really, via e-mail. You can even name it yourself~skt
I love it! Very creative list! Mine is up too!
It turned out better than I expected. I put a lot of time into my excuses. If I’d quit making excuses…why it would be amazing what I would achieve
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll be over to your house later. ~skt
Your cat shreds very neatly. Suspiciously neatly
Hey, Mark…you obviously didn’t read Number 11
. Lexus is nothing if not a perfectionist
Thanks for stopping by!~skt
Great list! Glad you finally got away from the “saleslady”. You cats are beautiful!
Happy TT!
Thanks, Sue. I’m glad I got away from the saleslady, too…but I still have to take plants to her. Maybe I can just leave them on the porch. My cats are beautiful, aren’t they? They think so, too!
~skt
Yikes, I have those little critters in my kitchen too. And that hair in the mirror isn’t anything compared to what greeted me this morning!!
Hi, Thanks for your kind comment. George Melly is a rather roly-poly Jazz singer and I was running around the outer circle of the Albert hall and I knocked him over trying to get to the bar before Bonnie Raitt started singing!
Anyway happy 13Thursday and I’ll take a look at your list tonight (I am supposed to be working..ouch!)
FBT
Bonnie Raitt! My hero! Well, one of ‘em. I knew I liked you. I’ll try to send folks your way for your first TT. Come again!~skt
Your are funny. OK, What is Ugly Betty? And, I managed to get my own 13 up too.
What is Ugly Betty??? Where have you been? Oh, right…you watch cartoons with the kids OR work your behind off on your blog. It’s a television show that loosely echos The Devil Wears Prada. I’ll be over shortly to see your TT! Have a great day.~skt
Now that’s priceless;-)
Thank you Kristy…but I’ll sell it to you for a good price if you want it
~skt
LOLOL! What a great TT — you know, you wrote the ultimate TT about getting distracted from writing a TT. I love it! And your kitties are purr-ecious.
Thanks for coming by my blog!
No, thank YOU! Your TT is fun. I love cat names…and to know that famous writers put silly names on their cats makes me feel in good company. Take care.~skt
Sounds like an eventful day! lol I can’t stand “sales” people either. Glad you were able to get away (at least temporarily!)
I’ll have to face her again, Courtney. Oh, joy! I can’t stand when they say “I’m not selling anything”…and then talk your arm off trying to get you to buy. What part of “no” don’t they understand?~skt
Thanks much for the link love ~hugs~!
I loved your TT, very creative – I love the look on McGill’s face – priceless and I think you may be fibbing, I am pretty sure that Lexus is innocent. I’ll even defend him in court if I have to….lol!
I also like the idea of adding link love at the end of the post – I may jump on that band wagon too!
Can you read the newspaper any better if you click on the image, and it opens bigger in a new window?
Yes, Tea. Clicking on the image helped. Wonder if you can save the picture in Photoshop and make it a little tad bigger next time? I don’t know if that works, but I bet it would. I loved the idea…you are so creative. Lexis is NOT innocent. Ok, maybe he didn’t do THAT crime, but he has done plenty of others.
~skt
Too funny! Yes, I’ve had days like this – love the ‘cat ate my homework’ excuse!!
~skt
He didn’t technically “eat” it. Actually, he didn’t even shred it. Mark busted me already. I framed Lexus for that one
This is too funy and one of the most creative Thirteens I’ve ever read. I’m still thinking about mine
Jessica The Rock Chick
How can you think after the dental appointment you described?~skt
LMAO….your a funny girl:)
Well, so are you! I love your list about living in California!
~skt
You are a riot… ant, cats, bad hair, and mahjong… I love mahjong learned to play it in the Philippines… great fun.
It’s all completely true! Thanks for stopping by, Robyn.~skt
I always blame everything on either the kids or the pets!
I try! You have the funniest TT going on over at your place. That was a riot!~skt
This is an excellent post. Lots of thought and work went into it and it shows.
Also, thanks for the mention. I wish I could do the direct link to a post, but I can’t. If I do all you get is a blank page, so I just keep posting. Need a pro to find out what wrong??? Have a great weekend.
Yes, you DO need to make sure that folks can permalink to your page, Sandee! How can we give you link love?~skt
OK, so we don’t have to believe a word Lexus says, but we can believe his “meows”! LOL
Happy TT!
You can’t even believe that cat’s meows, Denise! Thanks for stopping by~skt
You never fail to entertain with your storytelling! Once again I LOVE your TT!
I need to stop blog reading and get to my triathlon training!
Have a wonderful Thursday!
You are too kind, Penny. Thanks for visiting. Have a good weekend.~skt
We had ants last summer in the house on the second floor no less.
I thought your hair looked lovely, dahling, lovely.
Happy TT
Be well and enjoy the day.
You sure have some cute cats.
If you thought my hair looked lovely, Danielle, then you can visit me anytime! ~skt
LOL I love your list! Your cats are great. And I think I would kill my neighbour if she came over and did that. You handled it better than I would have.
Now that was a fun read!
Thanks, Stacy. It was fun to put together!~skt
You just described one of my ADHD Friday mornings when I have the day off. It all starts with good intentions until I see something that needs to get done, that brings me by something else, and oh I will just be on the computer while having my morning cup of coffee….
Fun 13.
Thanks, Jen. I think we all have days like that one. Perhaps mine was exaggerated a bit with my storyteller drama….~skt
I’m a day late, I know. That was funny – loved the pictures!
Happy TT13 AND Happy Friday!!
I’m even later than Frigga — darn feedreader’s overloaded again. The list rocks, even though I thought you looked just fine. Well, other than the fact that your eyes were all I could see of your face. But the hair worked for me…
Thank you, Susan. I didn’t have on make-up either, so I wasn’t about to let anyone see my face!~skt
Hi Shelly,
I’m glad you like my T13 link list! I’m pretty sure I’ve seen others doing that (or something very similar – I just can’t recall where) but I really like it. It lets me scout out the T13s, make a list of the ones that look interesting, then comment throughout the week. (Except for those weeks when I’m not able to sit…like this week. Thank goodness for Flexeril and Vicodin…)
I love that list. I hope you get feeling better. It’s hard not to be able to sit and surf when we want!~skt
