I guess some of y’all may know there was a writing contest going on around here. I asked people to send me a link to a funny post they had written and to link back to the contest on their site. I was looking for a post that would “blow my dress up,” as Daddy used to say.
The response was amazing; thirty-oneexcellent posts were entered. I have been sitting at the computer reading these each day and just cackling about them. My husband thought I was “laying eggs” for breakfast, because I sounded like a hen in the barnyard. A Texas-sized thank you to all of the contestants for brightening my day and allowing me to share their posts on this site.
Yesterday, Jennymcb at J’s Thought and Musings had the difficult task of sorting through the entries and determining the winners. She told me it was very hard to do, but that she enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you Jen, for your dedication, because I certainly wouldn’t have wanted to have to make the choices! She named the top three for me. Though all of them may display a button on their sidebar if they choose, only the winner gets the $25 Amazon gift certificate.
Without further ado (drum roll, please)
of This Eclectic Life’s This Blog Blows My Dress Up Contest:

I hope the rest of y’all will take the time to drop by to visit the winners and congratulate them. AND, take a few minutes to read through the other entries. You will find that logo on my sidebar to direct you to them any time you choose.
You will notice that at the top of my sidebar, I’ve placed this button. That’s because I want you to click it and find out about the Share A Square program. Around the blogosphere and beyond, people are uniting to help crochet afghans (blankets) for children with cancer.
Even if you can’t crochet, you can help us spread the word by putting one of these buttons on your site. Tell me that you have and I will link you on the original post. I’m in the process of creating a blogroll page. Schmutzie’s Milkmoney or Not, Here I Come has created some other buttons that you can use if you prefer. Go pay her a visit and tell her I said, “Hey.”
If you can crochet, get out that hook and some yarn, and send me a square so you can have one of yours on the 1st Share a Square afghan!

Wow! Thank you!! I’m so honored to have received this award! Of course, my dh said, “The award REALLY belongs to my kidney stone!”
Thanks for hosting this contest!

Thank you! I’m more than honored! What a great surprise to wake up to 2 ‘Congratulations’ in my mailbox! I’m deeply pleased…I look like the Cheshire cat, now I won’t stop grinning all week. This is the 1st thing I’ve ever won!
Well, Matty, it was a win that was very well deserved. It DEFINITELY blew my dress up! Thank you for entering!~skt
Shelley,
I’m pleased as punch & will happily accept the button for my side-bar. Is it possible for me to donate the $25 gift certificate to buy yarn with?
That’s what I would do with it anyways…but living here in Canada you would wait an awful long time for the wool! Thanks!
If I didn’t love you for your humor, I’d love you for your heart ♥ ♥ ♥ Thank you!~skt
Excellent group of winners. I still haven’t mastered crocheting. I am all thumbs. Now I’m avoiding the ball of yarn and the hook. Yikes.
They are excellent winners. And you CAN crochet. We have to find someone to help you!~skt
Nice picks for winners!
Actually, I was delighted with every single entry

The winning post was spot on the best I read! I was laughing so loud my DH thought I’d finally gone over board!
I can’t believe Matty’s poor mom had to go through that - I would have showed him his surprise a lot sooner…lol!
Congrats Matty and I’m thrilled to hear your donating your prize for the project.
Would you have shown him his surprise, Tea? I don’t know if I would have been as creative as Matty. She’s hilarious AND a sweetheart, isn’t she?~skt
Congratulations to the winners, and I have to agree with Teamouse. Shelly, this Share A Quilt project is amazing — and growing — What a great dream you had for such a beautiful project.
It’s only going to be beautiful because of all the people involved!~skt
