Link Love

A few days ago, y’all, I noticed that some evil spammer had swooped into my archives and was leaving comments like, “Nice Blog! afglxt” or “Good post! qetipxl.” From the address that they left, I knew that if any of my readers clicked on them to follow the links they would get “phished,” or something. So, I went through and deleted them all. In my g-mail notifications, I spammed those comments.

Well, the last couple of days, I’ve been thinking that it was time to give up blogging. I kept checking my e-mail to see if anyone had commented, and no one had. Yesterday, I thought, “Maybe they are sick of the Share A Squareposts?” I just kept posting hoping for comments. Then, I looked on my site and saw that y’all had been talking to me and I didn’t know it! Investigation showed me that my spam box was full of comment notifications! I guess g-mail isn’t as smart as I thought it was, and neither am I! I’m sorry I haven’t responded to your remarks, and that’s what I will be doing all weekend.

linklove1.jpgIt’s been awhile since I posted a “formal” Link Love post, but I have been tucking aside a few things to tell you. Some of you fuss at me for giving you too many links to follow, but you don’t have to “mind me.”

Have any of y’all read Arkie Mama‘s site? She got a second place in the last This Blog Blows My Dress Up Contest (which is going on again, so get over there and enter!!). It was a well deserved win, but actually nearly any of her posts could be winners! Now, it’s possible that I’m partial to reading posts from a former Texan, who actually has lived right here in Denton. But, I don’t think that’s entirely true. I bust out laughing when she gets on a rant about bird flu or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. That girl’s paranoia makes my husband’s fear of clowns pale in comparison (did I tell y’all that my Spousal Unit is afraid of clowns? No? Well, maybe another day.). Arkie Mama writes for a newspaper, and her expertise shows. You’d like her, I think.

Now, if you read my blog you may think that all Texans talk the way I do. They don’t. Some of them actually think before they write! If you want cerebral, I’d send you to Lara Croft at On the Lake Front (she’s from Houston). Especially go to this post. Lara is just beginning in the blogging world, and I think she is still “finding her sea legs.” She’s got varied interests, and really knows how to write. She doesn’t post often, except for Thursday Thirteen, but I’m watching and waiting for her to cut loose.

Sophiagurl at Life is just around the corner is a sweetheart of a blogger. Her kind spirit shines through in her writing. Again, I’m talking about posts that make you think. Two of hers that particularly appealed to me are Can you hear me? and Ripples. Keep writing, Sophiagurl, and I’ll keep coming back for more.

Lisa Gates, at Intrinsic Life Design, calls herself a “Completion Catalyst.” Her site is full of posts that will inspire you to get off your rear and do something with your life! A recent post titled Why We Should All Sing in the Shower includes an inspiring video that is well worth the few minutes it takes to watch it. I was in tears (joyful ones) after viewing it.

And, top it off over at Yellow Rose’s Garden! Her Thursday Thirteen this week Those Silly Kids had me in giggling fits. She’s a darling any day of the week…and, of course, she used to live in Texas!

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Now, I have to get busy! I have comments to answer, I have to go to the post office to see if there are new squares, I’m going to do a little crochet, and I’m going around town to take some pictures to show you. Here’s what I’ve got planned for posts in the next few days:

  • I’ve got to update you with some pictures of squares that came in the mail yesterday!
  • There’s a local businessman, who is quite a character, who can teach us bloggers a thing or two.
  • I’m hoping to update you on the flooding mess up in Gainesville, TX.
  • Summer brings back some favorite memories…and I want to share one, and see if you will share, too.
  • I’d like to tell you a folktale that I perform for kids at the library. If you have “whiney” kids, this is one for you!

Y’all come back!

I’m so glad you did not give up blogging! You are one of my favorite spots to come! Wow, I am overwhelmed with your generosity of putting me in your link love. It put a big smile on my face and was an affirmation that I am to keep writing, which due to an incident this week I was thinking of giving up writing all together, not just blogging! But I think I’m okay and now know this is what I’m supposed to be doing, thanks to good people like yourself! Come by soon and I’ll have something new for you to read. LC

I’m glad you come to visit. I love your house, too. I’ll check back. I’m not getting to everyone every day, but I hope that will change soon. I’ve got some volunteers ready to help with the crochet, so it should get easier.~skt

Shelly, it’s funny. When you realize you’re a conversational blogger, you really begin to feel lonely when nobody comes to play in your sandbox. We got some serious relationships ta tend to!

    Don’t you dare stop blogging.

    xo

I was only whining! I like to do that occasionally. More about that another day!~skt

    Shelly,
Don’t you dare stop blogging & doing what you’re doing. You’re an inspiration to us all. I hope you get some good tips from that business man. I could use some blogging tips. Had to learn everything on my own..still would love to be able to more with my blog. Many of us are computer illiterate.
I love your links…check everyone of them out! I for one appreciate the time and energy you put in your blog.
    Have a good weekend!

I got some good ideas from that businessman 😆 I didn’t even have to talk to him. I’m glad you appreciate the time and energy…it’s not so much, but having someone enjoy it keeps me away from the computer games.~skt

Thinking of giving up blogging? Let’s just call that temporary insanity and move on, ok???? I adore your blog and the comments and yes, even the links, too!!!! I always check them out and am never sorry that I did 🙂 I’ve found some awesome bloggers through your site and your contests!!

    So no more crazy talk!!!

    Jessica

Aw, Honey, my insanity is not temporary. But, I thought no one would talk to me, so I was discouraged. We could call it PMS< but I'm afraid it's menopause. I don't want to tell you youngun's what that's like. It will scare you away from it!~skt

I wasn’t worried in the least – lol! I knew you were up to your eyeballs in crochet from the amount you’ve made is staggering.

Today I’m off to donate blood hopefully – making these squares reminded me that I am seriously deliquent in doing that and it’s a great thing to do.

Then it’s off to buy some more colorful yarn. I’ve been using up some scraps from my ripple and I love the brights and I think the kids will too.

I’ll probably even post later on today.

Don’t get any blood on the squares! Just kidding. It would make them colorful. You are a good person to go donate blood. I’m scared of the needles. The kids will like the bright colors. I’m pleased with what I’m seeing so far!~skt

    Shelly,
Could you not have a special address for people who can’t crochet or have the time…where they can donate money or yarn for the eager beavers out there who are willing to do the work?

Well, Matty, since I’m not a 501C3, I don’t want to take anyone’s money! The government would be on my back like a duck on a June bug! Best I can say is that if you want to send me some yarn, I’ll throw it in the pot (since this is Texas, I’ll “thow” it). I’m particularly liking Red Heart’s TLC Amore (black). I think you can find it at Wal Mart, even. It has a little texture, and it makes a good soft background. Problem is, don’t overload me! I have a guest room to put all these in, but I don’t want to have a lifetime supply ~skt

Well, it’s a good think you are sticking with your blog. As you can tell by all those comments, you would definitely be missed. You’re doing good work here on your blog, something that will surely be lacking if you decide to stop. All I can say is, stick with what you’re doing because you’re doing it really well.

Cordia, you are too kind. Thank you. I won’t really give up blogging, because then my husband would have to listen to me ~skt

I would say it’s because I’m a guy that I dislike the term “link love,” but I know a few guys who do those posts all the time. I like the promotion of cool blogs I know of and it serves to drive some traffic my way too. Anyway, you inspired me to do one today (and you’re in it 🙂 ) but I call mine a “Blog Safari.” I dunno, just sounds better for some reason. Hope you are well!

I’ve been neglecting you and all of my friends. I am heartily sorry…well, not really “sorry” but regretful. I’m crocheting like crazy and out begging in the community, so I don’t get to do everything I want. I’ll be back. And, I appreciate getting to go on “safari.”~skt
