Having a “Spam Blocker” on my website is a wonderful thing, most of the time. But, I forget to check it so I sometimes miss out on things. Over the weekend, I discovered I had totally overlooked an opportunity to brag! I’m a Texan, and we are supposed to do that, but I was raised by parents who told me that bragging wasn’t nice. So, I was being quiet about it.
However, my friend Jessica the Rock Chick has gently chided me a couple of times, so—aw, heck. I’ll go ahead and get the braggin’ over with. Jessica had nominated me for [tag]Blog of the Day[/tag] and I got it on Saturday. I didn’t find out about it until Sunday, because the message to tell me got marked “spam.” I am duly grateful for the honor, and I appreciate them giving it to me. I get to wear this badge on my sidebar:

On Sunday, Jessica got the award, too. Jessica’s heart’s desire is to become an A list blogger, and if you have visited her site you know she deserves it. Her template alone is worth that honor, but her posts are delightful. She needs a few more links. Someone with a kind heart, please link to the Rock Chick and send her over the top. All the girl wants is to be able to splash this logo on her site:
If When you get there, Jessica, remember the little people you knew on the way!
From what I can tell, you can go to the Blog of The Day site and nominate folks you think are deserving of the honor. Y’all might want to click over there and nominate a handful of your favorites and see what happens. They might just get their fifteen minutes of fame. I hope the folks you nominate remember to check their spam boxes.
Now, I got that award, I guess because they liked my Link Love post. I’m pretty fond of sharing links with you to sites I think are worth visiting. I also discovered on Sunday that my friend Damien Riley, over at Riley Central, is doing some [tag]link love [/tag]of his own. But, he doesn’t think calling it “link love” is manly. He’s calling his a Blog Safari, and because he is an overachiever he didn’t stop with five! He named FIFTEEN! Thank goodness, because I barely made the cut.
Thank you, Damien, for listing me and saying nice things. You know I love your blog, too. I haven’t forgotten that you asked me to name 8 Things I Wish I Knew In College, and intend to answer you. I’m just trying to figure out if I know anything worth telling. I’m not really sure that I’m the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I think many of you have found a site that I enjoy a lot, but I want to tell you about her in case you haven’t. In fact, I’m about to head over there to get my laugh for the day. Sandee at Comedy Plus is a riot. She can’t enter my [tag]This Blog Blows My Dress Up[/tag] Contest, because she doesn’t write “essays,” as such. She passes along humor that she searches hard to find. However, her blog blows my dress up! So, what can I do about that? I can make an award just for Comedy Plus. So, here you go, Sandee. Know that I love you!

Finally, if you like to find links, here is someone else who shares them. His name is Baxter Tocher at the Far Corner. It seems that on Saturdays he goes on a “Blog Walkabout,” and Saturday he found me! He mentioned me on his post Blog walkabout, 24 June 2007, saying:
Shelly Kneupper Tucker from Texas, USA writes in This Eclectic Life about anything and everything that interests her, which is just fine by me. Shelly makes a thought-provoking point about how valuable the concept of “branding” can be within a community. Although she uses a dreadful pun in the title (and she knows it!), please go read the article and think about what she says.
Thanks for the kind words, and I know that I’ll be visiting you on Saturdays to see who else you recommend!
Now, that’s all the bragging I can do. I tried to temper it with bragging on other folks as well. I’m heading down to the post office this morning, and if I find anything for [tag]Share A Square[/tag], I’ll come back and tell you about it.

Thanks for the Link Love Shelly! Hope the post office goes well. I’m off to the dusty small desert town of “Adelanto” (the name itself means “go forward” in Spanish but it’s backward in every other way) to teach my first day of 14 days of 4th Grade Summer School! eeek. Watch my other blog for stories!
You are so great. I’m so glad the blogosphere saw fit to introduce us! ROCK ON!
Wow…I’m blown over here. I’m reading along and wham, you took my breath away. I am so honored and shall proudly take my award and place it with my other awards. You are just the nicest person. Yippee!!! You’ve made my day!
Miss Shelley, congrats on the major award. You’ve got a great thing going here. In fact, you’re one of those I have trouble keeping up with. When I’ve missed some days of reading like I have lately, you’re hard to catch up on. I’m here reading a while, but it’s always worth it.
And yes, Texans are supposed to brag; it’s the law.
When I lived in Tejas and worked at DFW, I worked with a guy who had a bumper sticker on his lunch box that said, “Anyone can become and American, but you have to be born a Texan!”
Stop by the Garden…I did some braggin of my own!
When someone said “major award” I was looking for the leg lamp from “A Christmas Story.” lol. Just had to add that since I’m subscribed to comments
Fra-geee-lay! There is a leg lamp award going on out there. I tried to snag it, but couldn’t get the Mr. Linky to work. Rats~skt
Always sharing the love Shelly. That’s why I loved you.
And also why I just tagged you, if you ever get a chance to do it.
Thanks for the mention, Shelly.
Shelley you are the blogger I aspire to be!
