I wish I had the opportunity to “ramble,” but without a car I’ve been stuck here at the house. Those of you who are fretting, because I don’t have the crocheted squares for Share A Square that you have sent, please don’t worry. I’ll get my mail tomorrow and post more about it.
You had your chance to help name my Honda Element. I had wanted a name to put on her tombstone. My little “pony” was acting up, and I was ready to shoot her and put her out of her misery.
I took a poll asking which name you might choose, and only twelve people took advantage of that.

Looks, like “Hussy” is the clear winner. Well, Hussy has been at the doctor. Thank goodness, her problem was not the transmission. It had to do with the shift thingamabob. I don’t want to get too technical for you. Well, I knew it had a problem shifting, I didn’t need a mechanic to tell me that. Fortunately, replacing the gizzmo was only a fraction of the thousands of dollars I thought I would be spending if it needed a new transmission, so I’m breathing easier.
I have given Hussy a reprieve from the death penalty, although I have not been amused with being without a ride these last couple of days. I told my friend Mark the saga I related to you about my car troubles. He suggested the name, “Shiftless!” Brilliant! So, I’m naming her “Shiftless Hussy,” and I’ll break the gas cap in half and send half to Mark and half to Arkie Momma when she dies, since they named the car.
I have to get my house clean!!! My family is coming to visit me (not this weekend, but next weekend) for a cookout in honor of my son’s visit from San Francisco. Yes, Setch is coming for a visit(no I did not name my son that—-it’s the name he chose for himself, and I’m honoring his wishes), though I doubt I will see much of him. He has all his buddies to visit when he comes back to town.
Now, ordinarily the family doesn’t gather at my house, because my brother and his spawn are allergic to cats. I have five fe-lions around here, so the family get pretty sniffly. But, this is an important occasion, so they are willing to brave the consequences! I’ll vacuum up as much cat dander as I can and hope for the best.
Isn’t my son adorable?
Just take a look and tell me that you don’t see the family resemblance. But, at least he isn’t silly!
Being stuck at home has had its advantages. I have actually done some productive work! My Yahoo e-mail account (which I use for work) has been overloaded with spam. I get about one real e-mail for every 800 spam messages! I deduced that this was because I had provided a link to my e-mail on my business website. I’m probably wrong. But, I’ve spent hours re-doing the site, and trying to make it have the same theme that Leanne gave me for the blog. It still has some glitches. But, I’m hoping that slows the spam spiders down.
Tonight, after we get Shiftless Hussy, my husband and I are going down to Lewisville, Texas to photograph some of the antique cars in The Great American Race. It’s an annual rally/race of pre-1960 vehicles. Click the link to see the map with all their stops along the way. Maybe you can go see them, too! We are looking forward to admiring the vehicles, but I guess if we are going out, I should make myself presentable.

Achoo! Oh you both do look so much alike, maybe it’s the red hair! hehehehe!
It will be nice to have your son home I’m sure, enjoy your visit.
You are allergic to cats, too? Snicker…the red hair? Yep, can’t wait to get to see him. It’s been a year.~skt
Hey Shelly, There is some kind of shampoo you can use on your cats without water that cuts down on the dander. If I wasn’t so lazy right now, I would get up and go search for it. My son has allergies and I did use it occasionally.
Sounds like a a very busy week ahead of you with your family coming.
I heard about that race on tv, it looks to be a hoot. It reminds me of that old movie, The Great Race. Are you going to take any pictures?
request: Post pics of the antique cars!!!
Oh, Damien! Well, duh…of course I will. I’m working on that this morning. Check this afternoon. It was way cool!~skt
Sorry, I’ve been very behind on my blog reading. But I like the name Hussie. Especially if she’s causing you problems!
And yes, I definitely see the family resemblence (sp?)! Enjoy your time with them!
I’ll try! It’s going to be hectic. I understand the blog reading. I’m behind on yours too. Slap me!~skt
First, your son is indeed adorable. You both look alike too. Shiftless Hussy works for me, but I did vote for Misery. It just seemed to fit your story. I’m glad it wasn’t as expensive as it could have been. Have a great weekend and get everything ready for the big do next weekend.
Misery fits my story a lot of times, but I make my own misery
You have a good weekend, too~skt
Your son does look like you…..handsome! You both have the same chin…and great looks! I hope your Shameless Hussy doesn’t give you anymore Misery…or we’ll call her Heartless Hussy!
Sounds like you never get a break. Have a great weekend!
We both have that cleft chin thang going. He’s got a Roman nose though. I just have a big nose.~skt
I AM proud~skt
Awwww…. he is a doll. I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time during the visit.
As for that Hussy — I keep attaching “shameless” rather than “shiftless” … perhaps some lingering memory from my youth?!
Were YOU a shameless hussy, or did someone else earn the moniker?
~skt
Your son is very handsome. I know what you mean when you say that you probably will see him few times while he is at home, it happens the same to me when my daughter visits us.
Thank you, Lola. I think he’s pretty good looking. I hope that I get to spend a little time with him. But, you know how busy they are…~skt
