I will definately get going making grannie squares, what a wonderful idea. I was in a house fire in Oct 2005 and was in a coma in UC Davis in Sacramento Ca. I didn't remember but when I finally got out my husband showed me a beautiful qult that was made and donated by a group of quilters for the fire dept. I cherish it to this day and thank God they gave it to me. It takes me a little longer to crochet now with the burns I got on my left hand but im getting there slowly but surely.
Cecilia

Cecilia, you have a big heart! I'm so sorry to hear about your misfortunes! But, don't you think that those traumas we suffer sometimes make as stronger mentally? I will be delighted to take any squares you can make, so don't push yourself. Thank you for your interest in helping us out with this project! I look forward to seeing the squares.~skt

It's really neat to see some of the squares coming together.

This is the first mention I've ever seen about The Colony. My family and I lived in The Colony in the late 1980s. We loved it there, though I imagine it's much changed now.

When we moved there, all of our friends were scared we had joined a cult. The Colony sounded cult-like to them.

The Colony is sooo far from being a cult  You wouldn't recognize it these days!~skt

That is awesome Shelly!! I hope that when I get moved, I can be a part of making some of those afghans!

You bet you can help put them together! I started to ask if you'd like to do so now, and then remembered that impending move. Soon as you get that done, let me know and we can meet up and finish an afghan while we chatter and eat. Thanks for all the help and the support you are giving the project.~skt

It's a tough decision for me too, I've forgone a lot of computer play time to crochet - and guess what I'm still happy. Maybe happier as my brain isn't turning into mush..well not too much.

Those pics are great...and look at that 12 year old, wow! So many squares and whole afghans donated - I'm impressed Shelly!

Thanks for the update.

I wish I were better at updating. It's a tough decision: crochet or update ~skt

So much love has gone into your project. The kids will be so happy when they receive them. All wrapped in love they will be.

You have a heart of gold. I wish you continued success with this project.

Thank you, Vickie. I think a LOT of people have hearts of gold. You should see this growing pile!~skt
