I never got to see the "chicken car." I wish I had! I'll have to stop in and eat there (my cholesterol levels don't let me "do" burgers often). Thanks for dropping by! I really do love to see your restaurant when I go by.

This is my restaurant!! My family started it in 1954 and it was a drive in ONLY. The building you are looking at was constructed in 1964 because they wanted to have a dining room and be able to stay open in the cold months as well. The chicken car was actually parked on the corner of the parking lot and brought in all kinds of curious people. I wish we still had it!

If you have any questions please feel free to let me know!!

To me I see the nice new, modern car parked out front - it's such a contrast to the run down building.

To me it's a link to the past in the modern world - the owners don't feel that they need to bring it up to date as its charm is in everything that some might see as flaws. It's a way to step back in time to a simpler time. If they modernized it, it would just be another restaurant and it would lose its whole appeal.

You are right, Tea, it wouldn't be as charming if it looked like every other drive in (sonic, dairy queen) in town. I just love the old sign more than anything~skt

Although your point is well-made and taken... :)

I did not think rundown!

I LOVE vintage little diners. Love diners. What's not to see good there? Oooh I have greasy burger taste and chocolate pie craving now.

I'm not seeing chocolate pie at this place, but I don't know for sure. Maybe an ice cream cone dipped in chocolate. That's good, too~skt

I see a respect for the past, the ability to either dream of good weather to eat outdoors or a symbol of the resilience of people to eat outside and ignore the weather.

Oh, yeah. I can see that. Here in Texas, in the summer, good weather is a dream. Unless you like 102 degrees at 8:00 p.m.~skt

I absolutely love that photo. I want to be in that photo, I see only the bad in anyone who would see anything BUT good in that photo. Can you tell I love retro stuff?

Now, if you put a picture like one of guy in an ambulance with the door open and him about to roll out while the EMT lights a cigarette . . . and wrote about the good in THAT . . . well then I'd probably participate ;) Again, amazing picture . . . may I lift it for my gallery? Did you take it?

Yes, I took it...you can lift it or I will go get a better one. You have a warped mind, sweet friend. You really want me to take disaster pictures??~skt
