The parking lot of the grocery store was crowded, but near the entrance was an empty space calling my name. There was a shiny black Lexus parked to the left of that space, and an older woman (about my age) was loading her groceries from her cart to the car. Now, that woman saw me paused there with my blinker flashing, indicating I wanted that space.
So, she slowed down. I’ve never seen anyone load groceries so slowly in all my natural born life. I sat waiting, drumming my fingers on the steering wheel. I hoped her ice cream was melting.
When she had finished loading her groceries, she very pointedly looked me right in the eye. Then that rude heifer shoved her shopping cart smack dab in the middle of the parking space I wanted! She turned around and sauntered to get in her car. I swear I saw a smile on her face!
Furious, I drove down about seven spaces and parked. I got out of my car, slammed the door and started stomping toward the entrance to the grocery store, fuming all the way.
The woman in the Lexus had started her car and was backing out of the space. Just at that moment, a gust of wind caught that shopping cart and it began to roll. Suddenly the cart picked up speed and slammed with great force into the side of her brand new car. You’d be amazed at the damage that a dinky little shopping cart can do to the side of a car.
That woman jumped out of her car and ran around to survey the huge dent in her car door. She looked around the parking lot with an incredulous expression on her face, as if trying to find someone to blame. Her mouth was formed into a big “O,” and she reminded me of a fish I met once.
Was it evil of me to fall on the ground laughing out loud with glee?
What goes around comes around, people. Would you call that Karma? “Carma?” “Cartma?”

Bwahahahaha! “Cartma” (love that) surely did come back and bite her in the butt. Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving candidate, either.
I thought she got her just desserts. I did a little happy dance when I got a “Bwahahahaha!” out of you. Made my day

Hehehehe! I’d call that Instant Cartma!
Right on! I’m so glad I got to see it~skt
The revenging cart,
Absolutely! It came alive!
~skt
I looooooooooooove it! Beatch!
Wish you could have been there. We could have really embarrassed her. I still don’t think she got it. I think she thought that someone else was responsible. Maybe she thought it was MY hot air that moved the cart?~skt
Oh that is too precious! Where is the camera when you need one?? I’m laughing out loud…..thank you for that.
Why are people so darn mean? There is justice after all.
I don’t know why people are so mean, but I sure am glad when the Universe decides it’s time for payback
Glad I made you laugh. You could use a laugh now and then, I’m sure. I’m thinking of you…~skt
I am such a strong believer in Karma – I have seen its effects many times. Normally, it’s when a motorist tailgates and then dangerously overtakes, only to then get stuck behind a tractor! It’s a good reminder, though, to always act towards others as you would like others to act towards you. Another great post, Shelly!
Thanks, Amy. I was actually glad it happened, just because I knew it was a post. Do you go around life saying, “How will I write up this experience?”
some days are like that for me.~skt
That is just awesome. It’s interesting how we love to see justice enacted, isn’t it? I noticed that the other day when I wanted someone who had cut me off on the road to get cut off by someone else. In any case, it didn’t happen. However, I suppose that it’s relatively safe to say that lady got her comeuppance, huh?
Sorry you didn’t get to see the other driver get caught up with Karma. I think that woman got her payback. I wouldn’t have wanted anything really bad to happen to her, but I think her punishment was sufficient. Just glad I got to witness it.~skt
Definitely CARTma!! OMG, that it priceless! Serves her right. Usually you don’t get to see justice served so quickly.
Thanks for the smile–I would have been dying had I seen that!
Jessica
Well, Jessica, I WAS about dying, but in a good way. I’m just glad she didn’t decide to come over and wipe the smile off of my face!~skt
Shelly,
I just sent you an email at your ‘contact’ email…to let you know that I started a blog for my grandson..where I have posted pics with him and his lovely afghan.
I can send you the pics if you send me your email so you can post them on your blog.
Thanks so much.
You are so welcome. And, you will notice that I just went on-line and robbed a picture for my Monday post. give the T Man my best. I’ll pop by and do so, too.~skt
I hope this was a true story, Ms. Storyteller, because it completely made my day! I really wish she had seen your face when you saw it happen…
It was TRUE. How dare you doubt me. You’ve been listening to Leon! She saw my face. She heard me cackle like a hen laying an egg (or the Wicked Witch of the West…one or the other…take your pick):twisted~skt
I would have reveled in the moment too. Priceless.
Some moments are priceless, aren’t they? Where’s the camera when I want it? At home on the charger, of course.~skt
Are you lying??? That is choice.
Nossir. Not lying (are you and Marcia and Leon doubting my veracity??). It was indeed choice. I had a great time hooting about it, and it made the rest of my day sweet. Am I that wicked? Yeeeess.~skt
you know what they say right? “karma is a b*tch!”
Hey, coincidentally, so was that “lady!”
Funny how you and I could both see that, eh?~skt
Classic! LOL!
Cartma!
Julie
Using My Words
Cartma it is!

Makes you believe in things like justice, karma, etc. Also makes me make sure I don’t behave like such a jerk, even accidentally!! Great post!
I’m not saying I’ve never been a jerk, but this lady took the cake! Thanks for the kinds words~skt
Great post Shelly.
You know my feelings on Karma – this was a classic ‘instant Karma’ moment. I really believe that we all get what we deserve (regardless of first impressions sometimes!!).
Just imagine if you had got out of your car and moved the thing – she would have got home unscathed… – EVERYTHING happens for a reason, I just hope she learned her lesson!
Oh, Nigel, I knew this one would be right up your alley! I love instant Karma. I doubt she really learned a lesson. Some folks never do.~skt
LOL, that is just too funny!!!
I wish I’d had a video camera…it was a hoot.~skt
That is so excellent! Horrible to feel glee at someone’s misfortunes – but when they set up the misfortune by their own nasty behaviour, well, what else can you do but have a giggle.
Jeanie, I couldn’t help but love it. I really did fall on the ground laughing. She deserved it…oh, yes she did.
~skt
Love it love it! LOL.
You are as evil as I am, sweet pea! I’m glad to know I’m not alone~skt
No, that is not wrong. It’s simply called justice.
Well the justice was right, but I’m afraid I got too much glee out of it~skt
OH, that is the greatest telling of Karma I’ve heard in quite awhile. Oh, as my mom would always say,”God’ll get ya, every time.” LOL!
It was great fun to watch, that’s all I have to say
