I told y’all in yesterday’s post that we would have a contest today (aside: go see the video I posted, if you haven’t already). I showed you the prize that you could win, as a teaser. Some of you jumped the gun and tried to name a song associated with the prize! That’s OK, it was good practice for you. The picture I want you to consider is the one above!
Last week, I was window shopping in downtown Denton, Texas on the square. At a boutique called “Rhinestones,” I saw a mannequin that was unlike any I had seen before. I couldn’t decide if I should laugh or be very frightened! Whooee! She’d be a scary Halloween decoration!
I got up close and personal with her, and realized that she looked to me like she was in the midst of belting out a song. I wondered, “What song could it be?” AhHA! I decided that I wanted y’all to tell me that!
Hence, a Name That Tune Contest. This is the mischief I have in mind:
Look at that gal above, and figure out what song you think she’s crooning. Then, hit the comment button at the bottom of the page and tell me. Tell me what she is singing; Name That Tune. You don’t have to be a blogger to enter. Lurkers, come out of the woodworks! Now, if you are like me, you think of what you meant to write after you have pressed the send button. I will allow two entries per person!
I’ll announce a winner of the FABULOUS PRIZE to the left on Friday, October 5th.
Do whut? You say, “What in tarnation is that thang?” Why it’s a hanger for your bangles and bobbles! You put earrings and necklaces on it. Or, you could hang spooky decorations on it and make it a Halloween tree. Maybe I should have a contest to find other uses for it? Nah, one contest is enough.
But, wait! No! I need to confuse my life some more!
Bloggers, I’d love some advertisement for this contest. Y’all know I would advertise for you! If you will mention the Name That Tune contest in a post and link to this post, I will do three things:
Click it for a larger view. No, you don’t get the bottle of spirits, and I don’t want to hear any wining. You get that fluffy little thingie on top.
What do you mean, “What is it?”
That right there is a handy dandy wine bottle decorator. Or, it can be a very short-lived cat toy. Or, you can re-gift it.
Y’all think my ideas of prizes are strange, don’t you? Well, humor me and enter the contest (and if you are feeling kind, send some other folks to play).

Good one!
She’s singing MmmmBop. No, not the chorus and the Mmmm part. The rest of it.
Yes, I’m serious when I say it’s a song best sung with reckless abandon. Preferably with the windows shut so no one can make TOO much fun of you.
I don’t know it(at least not by that name! I’ll have to find it!~skt
Some “WHEEEEERE” over the rainbow… blue birds fly
Honestly you do not want me to sing it!
Oh, yeah! that mouth of hers could be singing that! No, honey, you don’t sing and I promise you that I won’t either
~skt
I think maybe she’s singing “New York, New York”.
I can SEE that! Good answer! Thanks for joining in, Rebecca~skt
Lady Marmalade
Oh, Yeah! Could be!
Given the earings she’s wearing and the bottom half that is the prize:
Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend
Archshrk listed that yesterday (without having seen the picture
), and I don’t guess he beat you back today! That one seems reasonable to me!~skt
Best idea simply because it may require some listening if you don’t remember it for “Oliver”
Who Will Buy
From Oliver: Who Will Buy

That’s an eclectic entry!

Hmmm… I think she’s singing ‘Candyman’ by Christina Aguilera. That, or Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (is that the title of the song?).
Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy! Yes, I can almost hear her. I’ll have to go look up Candyman. Thank you!~skt
This is just for fun.
When I first saw the prize, I thought “Anywhere I hang my head is home”.
Well it is within one word of being a real song.
I’m gonna wash that man right outta my hair!
heh
Tomorrow from Annie and is she ever belting it out.
Money Can’t Buy Me Love by The Beatles
I posted about the contest at http://fashionfling.blogspot.com/2007/09/name-that-tune-contest.html

“Bitch” (and yes it’s a song!)
Words and Sound Bite of song
[...] Name That Tune Contest [...]
I’m going with “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John…
This was much easier than the Dear Abby one
LOL
I will post, too for you!!!
Jessica
From sea to SHIIIIIIIIIIINING sea!
[...] while you’re over there, check out her Name that Tune entry and submit a guess (or two). Let her know you saw the link here. [...]
I think she’s on the “brave” part of the end of the national anthem:
The land of the free(heee!) and the home of the *BRAAAAAAAAAAAAVE*!
Oh yeah, she’s got that pious, i’m-too-sexy-for-my-robin’s-egg-blue-eyeshadow arched eyebrow, and also that placid lack of concern for the content of the lyrics that every great anthem singer should have. And that makeup could only work in a very large stadium.
Gak!! I can almost hear Kate whatever belting out some patriotic song… LOL. Whatever. I’ll spread the love, at Thornesworld, tho…
Magenta’s verse of Touch a Touch a Touch a Touch Me from Rocky Horror.
I gotta say though, my jaw hurts just from LOOKING at her. Egads.
All I can think of is, Everything’s coming up Roses…
Guess number two (you said we could have two, right?)
Eddy Raven’s “Sometimes a Lady”
I’d learn to watch as she wanted to dance
I’d fall in love given half a chance
Wear’n that look that says it all
She’ll come on and She’ll back off
Sometimes a bad girl sometimes a lady
So sophisticated, just a little crazy
Oooh but she’s a class act
Lookin sweet and sassy
Sometimes a bad, bad girl sometimes a lady
Makin her moves with her innocent eyes
Schoolgirl smile but she shore ain’t shy
You’d want her to if thought she would
I’d walk away if I thought I could
Sometimes a bad girl sometimes a lady
So sophisticated, just a little crazy
Oooh but she’s a class act
Lookin sweet and sassy
Sometimes a bad, bad girl sometimes a lady
Oooh but she’s a class act
Lookin sweet and sassy
Sometimes a bad, bad girl sometimes a lady
If It Makes You Happy (Sheryl Crow)
linky love up at Thornesworld
Okay, okay… Well, at least it’s not 2am yet (only 1!! LOL) How about “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cindy Lauper or (2nd guess) “Loving You” (oh, poop! what was that lil gal’s name? I hated that squeeky “Ah-ah-ah-ah-ahhhhh” in the chorus… Got it (Thank G- Google, that is) Minnie Ripperton!!!
I’m thinking…Kate Pierson’s part on “Shiny Happy People.”
I don’t know this one, but I’ll search it down! thanks for entering!~skt
:
“Girls just wanna have fun” is my guess– she sure is havin fun shopping!!!!!
Oh, Liz, that’s a great answer! Thanks for playing!~skt
EEK Thorne beat you to it! That’s what I get for reading from the bottom up!
Under the gun- Only thing I can think of is “I feel pretty- Oh so pretty- from My FAir LAdy- she sure looks confident not too much Eliza Doolittle in her- but then again how many shrinking violets do you have in Texas???
that works
i can’t help but think that she also might be singing Dancing Queen by Abba!!
I saw this on Jessica the Rock Chick’s blog, so I thought I’d participate in the fun!
She is singing “Anything You Can Do,” a song from the musical Annie Get Your Gun! ‘Nuff said!
She’s singing “Send In the Clowns”
Sondheim would be proud.
(well…she does look like one of those scary clowns ya know)
