Hey, Kids! We are back from our trip to California, with much to tell you. I found myself on the coast of northern California (Mendocino) without much ability to get a regular internet connection, so I’ll be posting more about California in the next couple of days. For right now, I have to play catch up.
Being away from my mailbox left me with quite a pile of crocheted squares for Share A Square to photograph and sort. You should have seen me trying to juggle all the packages as I came out of the Post Office. There are armloads of packages!
Now, I can’t put all these pictures on the update post, or no one will ever be able to load it. I’ll be working through the night snapping pictures and uploading them as I wash dirty underwear and stuff. Hopefully I won’t accidentally snap a picture of the underwear. This post will grow through the night until I get it done, so if you sent squares and don’t see them yet, check back later. Thank you to EVERYONE who is contributing to this program. Don’t you know those children at Camp Sanguinity Cancer Camp are going to be smiling next summer?
The first pictures I want to show you are from my blogger friend, Thorne. I post these pictures with a great deal of sadness in my heart. Thorne is an offbeat, passionate woman from California who has a heart bigger than Dallas. She’s been posting about Share A Square and sending squares since the very beginning of the project. She has even taken two afghan kits to put together. Now, Thorne has had a tragedy in her own family. Her baby grandson died last week. As she put it, he simply “stopped breathing” and they don’t know why. If you have it in your heart, please visit her post here and offer your condolences. Thorne, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sorry for the sad beginning, but it’s been weighing on me since I read it.
To lighten up a little, a hearty congratulations and thank you to Sandi at Always A Work in Progress, who has crocheted her first squares…I mean really her first! She was worried that these weren’t “good enough.” Puhleeze! Sandi, those are gorgeous. Thank you! I wish I could crochet so well!
You must visit the Flickr site (just click the badge below). You can see all of the squares that have been sent. I want to thank the following people:
In fact, every one of you do! Now I’m going to “saw some logs.” At least that’s what it sounds like I’m doing when the snoring starts.

[EDITOR'S NOTE: The Share A Square project has ended, and the afghans were delivered on July 7th, 2008. Although we will not continue that project, an exciting NEW endeavor, called the Good Medicine Project is in progress for summer camp 2009. We hope you will join us.]

Your poor little post office box must have had a stomache ache. I’m so glad.
I am, too, Rick
! The next day, I got more of your squares with the ones from Myrtle. Thanks for getting her involved! I’ll send her a thank you via your address.~skt
Wow! Those are ALL gorgeous!!! I wonder if Heather, Keiko and Tandi would share their patterns – or the source of their patterns – with the rest of us???
I’m feeling the need for a new afghan – to be completed after all of the afghans for Camp Sanguinity are completed, of course!
Everyone come on over and sign up for a halloweenish dish cloth!!!
Hey, girl. The pics you have posted are gorgeous! What a great job! Dang, I missed out on the dishcloths! My husband will NEVER be able to do the dishes, because I KNOW I won’t win in Teamouse’s contest!~skt
PS, I’ll try to see if they will share those patterns

Things should lighten up in a few weeks….then I’ll be a happy hooker again!
I hope that doesn’t mean you are an UN happy hooker! Things will never lighten up, Sherry! You are old enough to know that
Take your time, I think we have a little. I just appreciate you putting one together. Know anyone else who wants to try???~skt
