Sally, What a lovely post. With lovely pictures. My favorite way to learn about that city was the walking tours. For some reason, I have always felt that SF was like a small home town; it’s is relatively small in square miles, compared to NY, and the people are much more laid back.. This post truly captures what is going on there. I love the beat of this city. It’s alive.

There is no real way to capture what goes on there. There is so MUCH! I’m fortunate to have some family living there, and they guide us to places that walking tours would never think to take you. It’s pretty amazing.~skt

I’m a huge SF fan, myself… used to spend a few weekends (at least!) there every year when I was a SoCal girl. I’d never move back to SoCal, but would consider NorCal in a heartbeat – precisely because both those places are there.

Thanks for coming by my site – although I’m having sad mental images of depressed owls divebombing! I seriously would’ve cried… HARD. I’m glad you can laugh about it now!

Sorry to depress you about the suicidal owl . I did cry at the time, and was late for work trying to save him. I don’t think I’d be fond of Southern California, but I’ve never been, so what do I know?? I could seriously enjoy wine country…if it weren’t for those twisty roads!~skt

As long as I have Wi-Fi, I would pick Mendocino hands down!!! San Francisco looks interesting for a day trip….sounds similar to New York City!! What a beautiful trip it sounds like!!

I can see Mendocino’s charm, and years ago it would have been my own pick. But, I guess because I’ve always HAD a more rural setting, I’m dying for some action ~skt

Wonderful story, pics and post! I would love to visit San Francisco, and feel the hustle and bustle, flying rats and dumpster divers…but after awhile I would like the peace and quiet of Mendocino..as long as I have my books and computer. Great view.

I think that was the trouble with Mendocino for me…I didn’t have internet access! But, I agree that the view is incredible, and I could watch the ocean for hours.~skt

This was a beautiful post! I too call pigeons “rats with wings”…that airborne rats made me laugh out loud.

As to where I’d choose to live…I think I would also go crazy in such isolation, but as much as I consider myself a “city” girl, I like being on the outskirts of the city too. I miss city life (having commuted into Boston for over 10 years), but I like the peace the suburbs has granted me too…I guess we adapt to wherever we end up.

We don’t have much choice but to adapt, do we? I guess we always have to have something to daydream about. My daydream is about living in the heart of The City! One of those dang pigeons flew right into my face, and another “soiled” my shirt! Animals! But, at least they get to live in San Francisco.~skt

S.F. is truely a beautiful place. I so love it too. Very well done. Let’s see, loved the stand up and cheer for the heels lady. Boring meeting is right. Sling a dead cat is a term I know. Pigeons are flying s**t houses. I think I got them all. Very well done Shelly. Have a great day.

I had forgotten that there was another euphemism for pigeon! Yep. One got me while I was sitting there minding my own business. I’d put up with it, though, just to get to see more of that town. I can’t get enough. You have a great day, too!:wink:~skt
