We had a dreary day this weekend, and I wanted to curl up under my electric blanket. Unfortunately, the cats didn’t want to share the bed! That’s alright. Since I couldn’t sleep, I got some of my work done. Imagine for a moment trying to actually sleep at night with those five cats on the bed and my spousal unit sprawled out beside me!
I want a king sized bed!
But, the cats will still curl up right on top of me! The good side is that they are warm (so I don’t have to use the electric blanket as much) and they are loving to me. Yes, I’m intelligent enough to know that “cat love” is conditional. If I feed them, and they feel like it, they will be loving to me.
Now, I want you to look at this picture and see Only The Good. If you are a cat hater, I know that might be difficult. I don’t want you to fuss about the cat hair and allergies (I already know about those). Find something good in this picture! If you can look at a picture and see good, you might be able to look around yourself and see your world with a less cynical eye. It really does work, and I decided that now is a good time to practice. I’m having a rough time seeing all of the good right now; it’ll get better, but life is a roller coaster ride at my house at the moment. I could tell you the good that I see in this picture, but I want your thoughts.
Marcia, at Tumbled Words, had the idea to practice seeing the good in things by looking at pictures and not seeing the negative. Nancy J. Bond took that idea and ran with it. She created a website just for this exercise, called Only The Good. You can find other people practicing this at Soliloquy, Inside Mo’s Mind, Life in Westcliffe, Lives Less Ordinary, and Miscellaneous Matters. All of them are worth the read any day of the week.
She’s baaaack!
Well, almost.
She has been talking here at the house for several days, trying to get up the oomph to visit.
The Dear Abby writing contest is going to happen this week! Last time, I asked you to write a humorous letter to Dear Abby in fifty words or less. I’m going to give you 75 words this time, so you can strut your stuff. Watch later in the week for more details. And, start thinking about what you might write. If you are a blogger, I will ask you to write a post with your entry. If you are NOT a blogger, you will be able to write your letter on the comment section of the Dear Abby post. I have some Lush-ous prizes. Remember that the readers will be the judge!

5 cats all snuggled on a bed! I want to lay right in the middle of them all and take a nap too!
We had snow the other morning and after one prowl outside, the four feline pride assumed the requisite “cat nap” positions. On the floor is a good place.
Things get much more serious when we arrive at the night time arrangements. While I’m laying on my left side, Kiki Boom is on the right with head hanging over shoulder, purring in my ear. Mittens is curled up next to me, Rory takes care of being a foot warmer and Mz Pris, being aged royalty, sleeps in her own easy chair.
;-)
Oh my goodness, what is not to love about this picture? I look at them and think “Oh they just take life in stride and really know how to spread out and take life easy”. Wouldn’t it be great if we could all learn to accept the things we cannot change and change the things we can and let the rest go and enjoy this life we have been given. Our life can get chaotic but it is usually because we create a lot of it. My sister is always telling me, “I wish I had your life, it is always so calm and easy going”. I tell her “Well, you would just mess it up”. She laughs and says “yep, you are probably right”. She is like a person running through life with her hair on fire and trying to fix everything and everybody. Doesn’t work !!!! Anyway back to the cats, I have one cat and she is indoor and outdoor and she just came here and I adopted her. She is so beautiful. Long beautiful gray and light … I call her “Fluffy”. The cats are beautiful.
Shelly, They are so big! Loved this post today since after two weeks of travel, my husband is back which means the kittens are out. I have the patience for the motorboat purring, since they do settle down, but he doesn’t. Last night I had fatticus ( punky) by my legs and then Mini snuck in to fall asleep under the blankets by my stomach, however it was her brother stash who got them kicked out, he was just a little too nudgy and is an afghan sucker which is annoying.
You gotta love them, oh to live as a cat if we could, wouldn’t life be grand!

Shelly,
Okay…I don’t hate cats…but I’m terrified of them…actually petrified..and I have no idea why! But I will try to find the good.
Looking at the picture….from 24 feet away, wearing a full suit of armor……I think of Family and togetherness & warmth & love….okay? Can I go now?? (as she runs screaming through the house)
Can’t wait for Dr. Abby…I really need a good belly-laugh….or a backrub!
Thanks to your wonderful afghan project, I learned how to put a badge into mine and Tina’s cpanel! I feel so smart. I voted for you at the Blogger’s Choice Awards! I wrote about it on my blog!
LOVE the pic of the cats….damn…they DO know how to relax!!
hi, wow just look at them they look so cute!!!
i wish i could relax too just like these cats.
chao…
deborah
Artwork on top of artwork. And I am quite sure, even not having cats, that they did not pull those little cushions up there to snuggle up on. Some sweet adult must have helped them a bit, don’t you think? Maybe someone named Shelly who wanted an excuse to get her work done because so many depended on her or maybe just someone named Shelly concerned with the comfort of others… I bet both apply.
Wow! Maybe you should get a double king size bed
I can imagine how it may be to sleep with 5 cats. I’m sleeping with one only, and I wake up covered in “kisses” many times a night!
You have five cats wow. How sweet of you to provide a home. I bet they are great companions.
