“Global Warming” My Eye!

snow_mar_6.jpg

Oh, for crying out loud! People, this is Denton, Texas (just north of Dallas and Fort Worth). I’ve lived in this area all my life.

That’s 54 years today.

I can count on my fingers (maybe even just the ones on my left hand!) the number of times in my adult life that I’ve seen snow that stuck to the ground around here in March!

Guess who isn’t going to eat at her favorite Italian restaurant for her birthday.

We are not amused.

Hi Shelly,

Happy Birthday girlfriend! Don’t let mother natures beautiful gift of snow keep you from going out for your birthday. Cook up a pot of spaghetti at home then go out and make a snowman. I want to see photos ! It will be a birthday you soon won’t forget. roll

janeywan’s last blog post..I’m still kicking.

Thank you darlin’. But, these arthritic old bones don’t go our in snow. I’ve known it was coming, because my fist has been the size of a grapefruit. No snowmen for me. Mother Nature could have given me the gift of balmy weather…but NOOOOooo.

Oh happy birthday! I remember (now) that you mentioned that today would be it. I’m sorry that you don’t get that restaurant. That snow looks very scenic, but I’m saying that from sunny southern California so don’t take my compliments at all.

Thank you, Derek. Yes, I’ll admit the snow is lovely. I enjoy snow, if I drive to Colorado to see it! I just don’t want it in my yard! lol

We are enjoying the snow down here too (well, ok, my kids are enjoying it, and I’m praying for a snow day tomorrow). I’m sorry it messed up your birthday plans though.

“Enjoy”? Use that term loosely. lol I think you’ll get that snow day. Thanks for the b.d wish.

Happy Birthday Shelly — Snow in Texas!!? It must have blown down from Canada although that’s a long blow. We get blamed for everything bad that happens in the US these days so you can blame us.

thesavvyboomer’s last blog post..Women over 45-here’s a new website just for you

I don’t blame Canada, Savvy. Around here, if we are casting blame, it goes to Oklahoma (don’t ask me why, I couldn’t tell you). lol. “Sibling rivalry”, I guess. I appreciate the birthday wish. You know, snow is lovely to look at on a postcard….

Oh, Shelly, it is just nature saying I love you with the peace and quiet of snow — and excuse to have your hubby wait on you hand and foot…

OK, reality check, Italian sounds good. Sorry Mother Nature got in your face today!

Happy Birthday youngin! grin

Thank you, Marcia (I know you have me by a year or so, but I surely and purely am not a “youngin”). Nature gave me a raspberry, is what it did.

Happy Birthday Shelly. To bad I’m not closer you and your husband could take my wife and I out to see the Texas bands!

Thanks for the b.d. wish, Damien. But if you lived closer, you’d be stuck at home just like I am. Texans don’t “do” snow! lol

You must not be living right;-) We saw some flakes in my part of Dallas, but none of it stuck. We did get about an inch Monday night. My Dad lives in the southern Panhandle and only got 1/2 inch today. Very wierd. That and snow in north Texas in March. Of course, you know it will be 90 in a few days (and I’m not really kidding about that).

Dang! How did you know I’m not living right? twisted I’m betting you spoke to soon… didn’t you! Yes, I know the weather will change. I was wearing shorts a few days ago. Pasty white legs! How scary is that?

OH, bummer! My family treats birthdays as a special day, and it’s unthinkable that you won’t get your heart’s desires! Not getting to go out to eat, having to cook, and most likely, having to clean up. It’ just too unfair!

We all hope that next year will give you a better day, but until then, have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I didn’t go out, and I had to cook, but fortunately I’m blessed with a husband who cleans the kitchen grin Thanks for the b.d. wish!

Happy Birthday, Shelly!!!! Hope you had a wonderful day!!!!!

OK, you know I am not a southerner, so excuse me if this is a totally ridiculous question….the snow is going to keep you from your birthday dinner? If I were closer, I would totally drive you, I swear! )

Love you!
Jessica

Jessica The Rock Chick’s last blog post..Pretty In Pink (Wordless Wednesday #14)

I love you, darlin’, and I know you would drive me…but you DON’T understand! First, our cars in Texas aren’t built for snow…most of us don’t have 4-wheel drive. Second, our highway department wasn’t ready for it, and the streets aren’t sanded. Third, since we don’t get snow, we don’t know how to drive in it, so everyone drives like an idiot. Fourth, IF you got me there (notice that’s a “big if”), the place would have shut down so employees could get home safely! There hasn’t been snow like this here in decades.

I heard them mention Denton yesterday and thought of you. What crazy weather…

We had a tornado in Washington state, in January. Completely bizarre for us.

At least it’s very pretty! And ya, global warming has nothing more than a consensus in the scientific community - and a consensus NEVER equals fact when it comes to science.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Wish we had snow up here in New Hampshire, on the seacoast anyway. Northern NH has over 4 feet of snow on the ground still. We are going to get tons of rain tomorrow. I would gladly trade you my rain for your snow. Is it a deal???

My cousin moved to Kentucky for a short period of time and she said the same thing about drivers and snow there. If you haven’t grown up with winter in all it’s WHITE (as in snow) glory you have NO CLUE how to drive in it. Pray it melts by tomorrow and have a belated dinner out.

Remember that “Global Warming” doesn’t necessarily mean it is going to get hot, but rather that you will have “extreme” weather as all the currents, clouds, and patterns shift. You get snow and the arctic gets a heat wave that kills polar bears.

Happy birthday! Sorry about the weather.

It was RAINING in Juneau this week while I was there - AND, one of our speakers (who is hq’d in Juneau) got stuck on the tarmac at DFW for over 6 hours (!!!) because of weather - and THEN - the plane ran out of fuel and had to be towed back to be refueld - AND she missed her talk with us - sigh!

Happy BIRTHDAY, though!!!!
