Results of the This Post Blows My Dress Up Contest

by Shelly Kneupper Tucker on March 29, 2008

Y’all, Damien is fast! He’s already picked a winner in the This Post Blows My Dress Up Contest, and I figured it would take him all weekend! This wasn’t an easy task I asked of him.

I just want to say that you folks “did me proud.” That’s Texan speak, for “you did a fine job and I’m delighted with the results.” Those were some of the best entries I’ve ever seen in my contests.

The theme was “Scared Silly,” and I was amazed at the directions you took. I had great fun with this one. In fact, I had so much fun that I’m going to do this again in June. I have to work in the real world and make some money first! I won’t use the same theme (and if you have theme ideas…throw them at me). As soon as I know the theme, I’ll give you a “heads up” so you can think about it.

As far as I’m concerned, EVERY entry was a winner! If any of you who entered want to slap this logo on your post, feel free to do so, because you each “blew my dress up.”

Damien picked a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, but unfortunately only the 1st place winner will receive the $30 (unless my Texas Lottery tickets paid off last night). Here’s what Damien told me:

Shelly,
I left comments on each entry and I just want to thank everyone who entered, you are all on my RSS feed now. I was on the fence on which of these three should win and my wife helped me make the final decision.

Please let your folks know I will be stumbling ALL entry permalink and their respective blog urls. I will also be contacting the 3 finalists in the next few days for their choice of an interview on my blog or the option of me writing a favorable review of their blog as a feature on my blog next week.

It was fun! If I had a skirt, it would be blown up over my bald head ;) Let me know if there’s any other way I can help.

Best my friend

Damien

Damien, thank you for your hard work AND for the great ideas of stumbling the posts! Why in the world didn’t I think of that? I’ll go in and put every entrant on my Technorati favorites. Will that work?

[Update: As soon as I hit the post button, I thought of this: If each of you entrants would list all the other entries at the bottom of your own posts, you'd each get 10 links out of the deal!]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Without further ado (drumroll, please), here are THE WINNERS:
1st Place: Robin at Around The Island posted “Treed, or rather staircased.”
Second Runner Up: Amy Palko at Lives Less Ordinary added “Scare Silly By The Fairies.”
Third Runner Up:
Cindee at CiNdEe’s GaRdEn entered “How I Scared My Daughter Silly.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Congratulations Robin! I know that since you live in Israel you wish I’d pay you in Euros, but I’m afraid it’s US dollars. Remember what my grandaddy said, “If wishes were horses…we would all be shoveling manure.

I hope y’all take the time to visit these good folks and wish them well. The other entries were wonderful, too, and you might want to see what they wrote. Here’s the full list one more time:

Thank you again. Y’all have a great weekend, and use your powers for good.

Wow, thank you so much Shelly, and THANK YOU Damien!

There was so much writing talent there, I’m really honored that you picked me. (And I’m feeling all sorts of vindicated now, after 19 years of no one believing me LOL.)

(And Shelly, dollars are just dandy – we don’t use the euro here.)

Well deserved, darlin’…though I’m not sure I really do believe about the cow. I believe you think you saw one, though :lol: . I figured you didn’t use the Euro, but I just wanted to get a poop reference in the post. Congratulations!

The boys are all out of the house, so I have time to read all of these great entries. I can’t wait to read the winners!
