I’m headed out to deliver those afghans to Camp Sanguinity today. I thought I’d give you something to do while I’m gone.
I’m passing along a blogging award, and I’ll tell you about it (but bragging about me is a yawn). Let me first show you the folks upon whom I bestow the “Arte y Pico” award and I can brag on them for a minute:
1.
Miriam at Crafter by Night. I’m not just mentioning her because she interviewed me. Miriam is involved in A LOT of crafting for charities, and she provides generous links to them. Miriam claims “Most of all, I like to live my life, not just watch it pass by.”
As my Papaw would say, “There’s no flies on that gal.” Y’all might not understand that this is a good thing. She doesn’t sit still for a moment. Her blog is a delightful eclectic mix, and you never know what you will find. I know all the folks who found me through Share A Square want to meet her.
2.
Jessica at Life Is Rantastic is my favorite fireball. Whether she is ranting about the latest escapades on Hysteria Lane, drooling over a Bon Jovi sighting, or doing the “Mommy brag” on her lovely children, her posts are always full of humor (and sometimes poignancy). Get her behind a cause, and she throws herself wholeheartedly into the task…she has been a mover and shaker for Share A Square since the beginning, even though she can’t crochet a stitch. Go visit her, and hope she has her “catboots” on…she gets crazy when she does that, and it’s a hoot!
3.
Sandee at Comedy Plus makes me laugh. It just doesn’t get much better than that. Laughter is the best medicine, and Sandee knows that. She is a generous blogger, who just brightens my day. She’ll brighten yours if you let her! Be forewarned: it’s not always rated “PG!”
4.
Marcia at MeeAugraphie is an astounding poet, a wordsmith. I’m always moved by the words she writes and envy her ability to put words on paper in a way that touches the heart. Her insights make you stop and think (for hours, sometimes. Not only that, she’s a cheerleader (if you need cheering), and an awesome blogging friend to have.
5.
Barbara at Purplemoose Gazette is another crafter who was very involved in the Share A Square program. Knitting is her passion, and she shares it with us. She also shares the beauty of her native state: Alaska (and it’s not just shots of snow!).
All these bloggers have the privilege of putting this award on their site.

Now to be honest with you, I wanted to name about eight more bloggers, but I don’t think I get to do that. But, I get to bestow these five.
The award is called the “Arte y Pico” award and it’s supposed to be “given to bloggers who inspire others with their creative energy and talents no matter whether it be in the form of writing, artwork, design, interesting material, or contributions to the blogger community. When a blogger receives this award it is considered a “special honor” and, once presented to you, it is to be passed on to at least 5 other bloggers who meet the criteria. You will need to either speak Spanish or use Babelfish to translate the Arte y Pico page, but it is worth the effort.”
I was fortunate to be given this award by two people (and one of them even speaks Spanish!). Y’all I never have been very graceful about accepting praise. Do you have that problem? Momma told me not to get too big for my britches, and I just find myself running and hiding if people say nice things about me.
It’s not that it doesn’t please me. Oh, not that at all. I don’t know what it is that makes me shrink from the kind words.
Some time back, my friend Lola had given me an award. She’s a blogger in Spain, and I confess that I love to look at the pictures on her blog (she makes jewelry), but the Babelfish translation of her blog page makes me say, “Huh?” That’s probably what she thinks when she translates my pages, too. I meant to write about it, but was all tangled up in yarn for Share A Square at the time. I know she said nice things about me, because Lola is just like that…but…um…I’m not sure what they were.
Now, my friend Jamie, at Durward Discussion has given me the same award, and I’m plumb flabbergasted. She said nice things about me, too. Jamie is one of those bloggers whose posts leave me thinking “Why can’t I write like that?” When I read her blog, I get lost in it for hours.
Getting awards from these two people feels like high praise, indeed. I’ve been remiss in awarding folks lately, so it’s time to pass it on. Now they can grapple with the embarrassment of being praised.
Y’all go visit ‘em. You’ll be glad you did.

God Bless You!
climbed on buses to head to Camp Sanguinity for a week. Tyler was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Sept 5, 2007. After 8 months of stress, emotional upheavel and a lot of praying Tyler is in remission and In Maintenance for 3 years. I am at home in an empty house this week wondering what they are doing. I know today they will be smiling and thinking how wonderful people are to do such AWESOME things for them and other kids fighting cancer. I cant wait to see their afghans and bags! You and all the other ladies that took time to make these beautiful squares are a blessing! This afghans are something that they can treasure their whole lives to commerate their trip to Camp!
I stood in front of Cook Children’s yesterday and watched as both of my boys (Tyler 10 & Ryder
Its the little personal things that people do for us that put such smiles on our faces and hope in our hearts! I only hope to pay it forward in the future! Also a Thank You to everyone that donated money to help send a child to camp. As a parent and care giver it means so much…hospital bills come in the mail everyday and prescriptions are needed every month…even with insurance it gets hard. So being able to send my children to camp without having to worry about where to get the money is such a blessing! My kids get a chance to be a 10 year old boy without cancer for a week and a 8 year old boy without a brother who has cancer! You will never know how much that means to them or us as parents! I will sit and worry, wonder and miss my boys terribly this week but to be honest the caregivers need a break at times too! At least I know they are in the best care possible and that angels will be delivering very special gifts to them this week!
Have a Wonderful Week and Bless You!
