Disturbing Collectible Dolls

by Shelly Kneupper Tucker on August 20, 2008

The advertisement below, for “Heavenly Handfuls” miniature dolls, was delivered to my mailbox. I kid you not, it says,

“These dolls are not toys; they are fine collectibles to be enjoyed by adult collectors.”

Who collects this crap?

Am I the only person who finds this image disturbing?

I think I have lost my taste for M&M’s.

I’ve seen your weird dolls…it’s not as weird, though as plucking what looks like a baby out of a bowl of M & Ms!

Um. That is beyond creepy. It might be somewhat endearing if the baby in the picture were adorable in any fashion, ’cause we’ve all heard the saying “you’re so cute, I could just eat you with a spoon!”.

But. That baby doll is not cute. Not in any way. Unless you are fond of little creepy troll babies who sneak through the darkness and steal your SOUL!

(Now, I’d forgive the aforementioned creepiness if it came with a huge bag of M&Ms. I have my selling price!)

Selling price? You are two easy. A case of M&Ms…maybe

I thought that ad was creepy when I saw it too! I mean, I don’t think the dolls are necessarily creepy in and of themselves (not that I’d collect them or put a note on them that says “Adults only!” b/c that’s just weird too), but the way he’s being plucked out of a bowl with a face that says “DON’T EAT ME! PLEEEEEASE!” That gives me the heebie jeebies.

And yet now I want M & Ms. Great.

I can’t believe you could stomach M&Ms after seeing that! That’s heartless!

I have to laugh because the address where you send your order form should you want one of these is literally right around the corner from my house. They used to have a museum kind of thing there where you could preview all of these “collectibles”. (Which is usually a bunch of strange baby dolls that scare the crap out of me or collector plates.)

I wonder if they still have that preview place….sounds like a tour might be in order if so!!!!

I love how they put “candy and dish not included” LOL….where are you gonna dangle your M&M baby if they don’t include all the accessories! BWAHAHAHAHAHAAA

Collector plates are another thing I just don’t understand…but there you go. How (ahem) wonderful for you that you can go around the corner to get these crappy interesting collectibles!

Somebody is buying this stuff and their poor children have to deal with it when they go to the big collector in the sky.

What if I just want the candy?

Do you mean you can’t take it with you? Aw heck! If any of my loved ones have this poor taste, I hope to heck they take it with them!
