Have y’all ever partaken of a “breakfast” offered by one of those chain hotels? This Hampton Inn serves a “hot breakfast,” and I was hungry this morning. I decided to walk down there and see what they offered.

My Thunder! What in the world do they do to the eggs to make them so unappetizing? As my husband said, “It’s sustenance but it’s not food!”
Lordy, those eggs don’t make me long for “the good old days” when I was blissfully unaware that I had high cholesterol. These days, I only get Egg Beaters.
I still miss eating eggs the way I like them:
I have always called that style of cooking eggs “Mashed All Flat.” They were fried in bacon grease, and I mashed them and bashed them and cooked them until they were crispy on the edges. By the time I got through with them, no one would ever know that they had once possessed the potential to be a baby chicken.
Do you get to eat eggs? How do you cook them?
I’d better go find a Starbucks, so I can at least eat something before I swoon.

Aww… away from home and no good eggses?
I love my eggs fried over medium. And when I go out I’m a fan of Eggs Benedict. (I’m too lazy to make Hollandaise at home. Actually, I’m too lazy to make my own breakfast at all. I only eat breakfast when the Girlyboi makes it for me.

Looking at those buffet pictures gets me to remembering the last truckstop where I worked as asst. manager. We ran a breakfast buffet there on Saturday and Sunday and if the prep cook there would see those pans with those food items, he would have a mega hissy fit! He was particular as all get out about the meats he put on the buffet and especially about the eggs. We only did scrambled eggs and he did them from a dry mix, rehydrating them in the steamer but man, on the buffet, they were fluffy and nice, done to perfection and he kept them looking really good for the duration of the buffet. Keep in mind, this man is not a chef -far from it -but just a really dedicated worker and proud of his workmanship too!
For myself at home, occasionally I will fry a couple of eggs -love ‘em in good bacon grease too -and when I do, I prefer them over easy. But usually when I fix eggs nowadays, I opt to do scrambled because most of the time I’m also cooking them for Maya and that’s how she likes her eggs -scrambled, a little on the soft side, very fluffy! Now, all this thinking about eggs has made me hungry for a good scrambled egg or friend egg sandwich, replete with a lot of yummy Hellman’s mayo on it too! So much for my diet tonight I guess.
I love a fried egg sandwich, too..with bacon and onions! But, it can’t be runny…I can’t stomach that! The scrambled egg thing with the egg beaters isn’t too bad, really. I can still tell the difference. But, if I put plenty of salsa on them it doesn’t matter
LOL you are funny(-: I don’t really like eggs but I raise chickens. So go get a good laugh outta that(-: I do bake so I use them for that and my husband and son like them. I just like the feathered girls all clucking away each morning when I go out to see them(-: Oh and the rooster is entertaining too(-: I love coffee for breakfast.
What a waste! Here’s a woman who has the opportunity to eat FRESH EGGS…and she doesn’t like them!
I’m rolling on the floor. I admit, though that I enjoy seeing the pics you post of “the girls.” Do they ever become supper?
I won’t tell you about those eggs or the other stuff from that complimentary breakfast….it’s UGH! (My daughter worked for a Major hotel as a front desk manager and told us what they use and do). I will never eat at one again.
Cup of coffee, I’m good! LOL

Ah Eggs. I remember eggs. As with you, they are now no longer part of the regular diet. Back then it was chop and fry potatoes, peppers, onions and sausage. Once cooked and browned, pour in eggs beaten to a froth and keep flipping everything till it was all loverly yellow and brown … sadly no more.
Now they have become a vice. When we go out to breakfast it is a once every couple of months eggs benedict. Lust is good.
“Lust is good.” I’m going to quote you on that
Mmmm. I like the way you used to eat eggs! Everyone needs at least one vice…so don’t ever feel guilty!
Over easy with runny yoke so I can mix my ketchup in it. Although your fried to dried looks eatable…lol

Ick on the runny yokes! And, ketchup on the eggs is just too “loud” for breakfast
But, I’ll accept your taste, if you can accept that I love bacon grease!
