I tell you what!
Did y’all know that if you mix Vick’s Vapo Rub, Hall’s Mentho-lyptus cough drops, and chai tea you get toxic vapors? You dang sure do…and that’s what I’ve been inhaling for several days. Don’t anybody light a match!
Being slathered up with Vapo Rub has its advantages:
- After awhile, I don’t smell myself anymore … much.
- The first row of the kindergarten audience keeps its distance.
- Sales clerks at the perfume counters at the mall get one whiff of me and turn away, knowing I am a lost cause.
- The five cats have absolutely no desire to dogpile on me in the bed, so I can get a full night’s sleep!
I was smart enough to get a flu vaccine this year (did you?), but I wasn’t smart enough to stay away from the things that would give me a head cold. Like:
- Working from 5 in the morning until 10 at night
- Telling stories in a big voice for many days on end
- Standing in the middle of a football field on a cold night to
yelltell stories with a tiny sound system - Hugging snotty nosed kids (oh, tell me you could resist a 5th grader who liked your stories enough to offer a hug!)

That head cold has turned into a fierce chest cold, and this guy has moved into town. That’s disgusting, isn’t it?
So, I’ll spare you a “blow by blow” description. I’m just gonna go munch some Mucinex and curl up under the covers with some more noxious fumes.

Get well honey. I do in fact know that smell. And you really can smell yourself over all of it too. Just get well. Big cyber hug.

Thanks, Sandee. Cyber hugs are good (and don’t give you my germs
. Hope all is well with you.
Hope you’re feeling better. HUGS!
Thank you darlin’. I recuperate a little every day. Now if I’ll shut up for a few days all will be well. Hope you are doing fine.
ACK! Hope you feel better soon. I’ll tell you one of my favorite kid jokes to cheer you up! Q: Why did the Kleenex dance?
A: Because it had a little boogie in it! BWAHAHAHAHHAA!!!
I fear going into schools. They are like a breeding ground for every germ imaginable!

Don’t make me laugh, I’m too stuffy headed! And, my Kleenex doesn’t have “little” boogies! Yep, those schools are just giant petri dishes!
Sounds miserable! Brew up a cup of “tea” made with the juice of half a lemon, a clove of garlic (peeled but no need to chop), 1 tbl of honey and “as much cayenne pepper as you can stand” - that will boost your immune system back up into the stratosphere and knock that sucker outta there.

Oh, and feel better soon

And, thank you
Leon would say, just have a hot toddy.. I say, rest rest rest and bacon. (baked potato for me, I had to customize my recommendation) Actually chicken soup really helps.
FEEL BETTER, that’s an order!
HUGS if that didn’t work.
You tell stories at football fields?
If my throat gets raw, I’ll try the toddy. Rest is what I’m trying to do for the next few days. I’m too exhausted to make chicken soup (hey…how do you know about chicken soup? It’s not vegetarian!). Thanks for the hugs…and don’t get any of my germs.
Yep, I tell stories at football fields…it was “The Field of Readers.” I got a football jersey, a paycheck…and a cold for the effort
Boy, I so hope that colds are not contagious and spreadable via the internet! I haven’t had a head cold in over a year now and trust me, I don’t miss it one iota either.
On the other hand, how about I cook up a batch of bacon -oh, maybe 2 pounds worth (have to have that much to have enough to satisfy the family and also, to send some really good aroma down your way. I’m figuring the smell of bacon out to really awaken the “get well” aspect in your system, don’t ‘cha think?
Thank goodness you have blown your sense of humor out with the snot.

Sense of humor is about the only thing that didn’t get blown out. My brains are gone, that’s for sure.
I second the hot toddy! Next road trip, bring along some hand sanitizer.
Hope you have the soft kleenex, take care and get well soon!
