Only The Good #6

Can you see the bits of trash scattered all around that cat toy? Pretty yucky looking, isn’t it? Naaaah! Don’t think like that! That cardboard thingamabob is a cat scratching toy. It sits smack dab in the middle of my living room to entice my one cat with claws to sharpen them on that instead of on my furniture.

Unfortunately, the cardboard falls apart and bits of it scatter all over the room. I have to vacuum that area every day…and we all know that vacuuming sucks! But, I don’t care. It’s a small price to pay for a little less shredding of my furniture. The mess is a good thing— it means the toy is working.

Occasionally I’m miffed to see the mess, but it doesn’t bother me today. Friday is the day I exercise my “optimism muscles.” Friday is the only day of the week that I work hard at seeing Only The Good in everything. I post about “the good” on that day, and invite you to join me. You can post, or just make a comment about something good going on with you. I want to hear. If you post, be sure to comment, so other folks can find it.

Now, this particular Friday has some really wonderful stuff going on for me. Tonight I get to go to a concert to see Celtic Thunder! Don’t be jealous. I tried to give you tickets.

You didn’t win Celtic Thunder tickets, but you can win a free pair of Lee jeans … would that help? Run over to Leanne’s blog to her Lee Jeans Giveaway. She gets to give away 10 pair! The drawing is December 1st. To enter, leave a comment (that’s all you have to do for an entry!). You can earn more entries by blogging about it or by posting about it on Twitter. That’s good, isn’t it?

My thanks go out to Mo, Thorne, Jeni, Karina, and Marcia for playing along with my idea. And, to Jamie, who hasn’t really posted an Only The Good, but she linked me to a recipe for some kick butt bacon brownies!

Y’all go have a good day!

Ohhhhh, have fun tonight! Between that and your iPhone I’m doubly green.  Good thing I am Irish because it’s a good color on me 🙂

I keep buying those cat scratcher things and my cat keeps going for the post on my staircase. Someone said to try double sided tape. When I get to the store, I will get some!

Savor Danny Boy for me, will ya? And I expect a review ASAP 😉

I’m not trying to make you green (if I was, I would tell you how icky being sick has been!). I’ll tell you all about it as soon as I can think again. I’ve never tried double sided tape…you’ll have to let me know if it works. My darned calico is so hammer-headed that she would tear the whole place down. She wants outside, and I won’t let her go. I’ve tried to explain about the coyotes, but she won’t listen.

Yeah, that would prob’ly be great for the bug! Right now she uses the windowsills and my door frames! 🙄 *hint* get yourself a Roomba – it’s good for small vaccuum jobs like that, and its high entertainment with the critters! 😆

Hope you’re having a fabulous Friday, and the head cold is getting better…keep takin’ that cold med!

I can see where that Roomba might entertain the cats , but I’m not sure I have the room for it. Will it tear up furniture? The cold is much better, thank you. Better enough that I can go out to buy that good stuff YOU mentioned! What a great Only The Good! Thank you

And you managed quite well, my friend! Thank you for the shopping tips! I’m not a good shopper, so it’s GOOD to know someone who can help me find deals !

Only the good? My kid isn’t letting his broken arm slow him down ;-).

Oh, and I received a wonderful card in the mail, all the way from Texas :-).

    Robins last blog post..Broken

😆 Itai doesn’t seem like the type of fellow who would let very much slow him down. That grin on his face is priceless! A card from Texas? My, my. Wonder who you know there, Ma’am? Sorry. I just had to “ma’am” you, since I knew it would drive your Yankee sensibilities crazy. 😈

my kitties have a scratching board like that too. I’m forever vacuuming up the mess. But, like you said, it keeps them from tearing up the furniture.

Have fun at the concert! Is there a jealousy smilie??

    kaceys last blog post..Hidden Pictures

😆 Sorry, I don’t allow jealousy. I wish I had more smilies but am not technologically advanced enough to add them…so you have to make do.

Only the good huh? My new kitten just fell off of a huge stack of freshly laundered and folded towels that immediately followed her to the floor where she is peeking out guiltily because baby obviously did a bad bad thing.

It is hard to type while laughing hysterically.

Hey, it’s good! That laughter is good for the soul. I wish I had a kitten…no wait…they grow up, and I already have five. Never mind.

I know I’ve already been to their concert, thanks to your contest, but I wish I were there again tonight, too!

Memories are great. I relied on a memory for my post tonight. (PS. Our Roomba was awesome.)

Marcias last blog post..Only the Good Friday, Memories

I probably won’t get one, but I’ll put a Roomba on the list. Yep. Memories ARE good.

Thanks for the tip for the jeans. I shall hurry there now. How good of you to send us there.

Hahaha!!! I love your kitty mess. A Roomba sounds like a great idea. I want one, but I’m afraid it would rapidly choke to death on the bird mess all over my hard wood floors (I’ve tried vacuuming. The bird detritus will destroy even full sized models. I have to sweep or break out the shop-vac! LMAO! So I’m, finally up with my OtGF post. Had to unplug in the middle of it yesterday in the waiting room at the Dr. where I had sneakily tapped into their power to run my battery-less lap top! Buahaha. Back to my WC (grumble-mumble)
    Write on!

A Roomba would be wonderful…except for all the stuff it would bump! Guitars everywhere (the man can only play one at a time, but we have at least 10 in the living room!). Then there is all my yarn . I’ll get by to check the post. I appreciate you. I’ve been packing and then driving six hours to south TX.
