At last, I got to go to my long awaited Celtic Thunder concert! Sigh! I got to hear the golden voices of those handsome men in kilts (sorry, Honey, yes I was looking!). What a treat it was, too.
I must admit that I was most looking forward to hearing Damien McGinty singing “Puppy Love.” I was excited about hearing Ryan Kelly sing “Brothers In Arms” or “Desperado. Or, even the whole group singing “Danny Boy.” All of those songs were as marvelous as I had thought they would be. But, I was surprised at the song that came away in my head.
It was sung by Paul Byrom, and I hadn’t even thought I was all that attracted to his tenor voice, as enchanting as it is. By the end of the concert, he was my favorite of them all. It wasn’t just his voice; he has a stage presence and charisma when he performs. He also had a way of “flirting” with the audience of women (who were swooning down in the front of the theater) that was endearing. Yes, he pulled up his kilt to expose a little leg, did a little “booty shaking,” and whirled in that skirt just a little excessively (sorry, Honey … I can’t help it that I thought it was fun!). Mostly, though, he caught my attention with “Remember Me (Recuerdame),” so I thought I’d share it with you.
The Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie was the setting. A gi-NORMOUS place it was! I wish you could see it, but they didn’t allow cameras anywhere near it so I can’t show it to you. Sure, I could have taken a picture with that new iPhone of mine, but I didn’t want to end up “detained” and miss my Celtic Thunder Concert! It doesn’t matter, because the stage looked exactly like the one you see in the video.
What a fine concert it was, too! It was very dramatic, had lots of primal drumbeats and fine fiddling. And, did I mention there were men in kilts?
I was a little disappointed in a couple of things. For one, prices at the theater were outlandish! Parking was $15. A beer was $8. I didn’t even look at food prices, because I was smart enough to feed us before we left. I didn’t buy a $15 program to throw away … and I figure I can get a better price on their music by buying it on-line.
I was also a bit disturbed by the fact that the young men sounded a bit like they were fighting colds or voice strain, which wouldn’t be surprising considering the number of dates on their concert tour. Their enthusiasm was high, though, so that more than made up for it.
I got over those tiny disappointments quickly as I got lost in the magic of their music. It didn’t hurt, of course, that I got to see men in kilts.
(Sorry, Honey …
and thank you for putting up with me.)

He makes that song sound effortless. That was beautiful!
My daughter and I are going for a bit of culture this evening. We’re going to see the Nutcracker at the Majestic in Dallas. I’m so excited!!! I’ve always wanted to see it.
Culture is good.

So jealous of you!! I’m glad it was so good. I would love to see them in concert. Maybe someday.

It IS a beautiful song…and I was surprised that a quiet one caught my fancy. I hope you get to see them, too. but, the old folks sitting next to us (maybe a year or two older than me
) said that the dvds are fantastic…especially if you have a big screen tv! Invest!
Making me want to go again, you are! I remember him singing this, he is pretty darn awesome! Our parking was 20! I was one of the dummies paying for the CD, another 20, and it is only around 10 on iTunes. One woman paid less than 5 online at one of the big department stores!
Thanks for posting the video, I need to go favorite it.

My tarot reading told me not to be “jealous” but, I’m green right now. The tickets I was able to give to y’all were better seats than we were able to buy!! I’ll never use Ticketmaster again! I’ll try not to ignore the tarot…but I’m seriously envious!
Even a lesbian can appreciate men in kilts. Well, this lesbian, anyway!

Well, David, I’ll certainly be checking out the men in kilts (when my husband isn’t looking). I thought for a moment you were a cousin of mine of the same name! Yes, Celtic Thunder is all over the web right now, and with good reason. Hope you enjoy their videos.
Beautiful song. Made me cry. Now I need a man in a skirt to cheer me up.

Shelly, you simply need to make a kilt for your husband and get him to “model” it for you. (You might have to use extortion to obtain his cooperation.)
Glad you like the show. And thanks for the report.
For the record, even though I am a guy, I too cried during Paul’s “Remember Me”, written by Phil Coulter about a young man who had to go off to war, and was sitting by the campfire with his buddies, hoping the woman he had to leave behind would remember him as fondly as he remembered her. Simply beautiful.
I sat in the eleventh row, and couldn’t even see the stage because of all my tears.
Everything they did was beautiful. It was just a great show. I was in the nosebleed section, so you wouldn’t have seen me
It was a magical night! I looked for you! Loved Paul’s performance! The booty shake and twirl…woo hoo!!
I really enjoyed George’s “Old Man” also. Miss Priss loved Keith Harkin….he is a cutie!
Thanks again for running the contest! So glad I was fortunate to win and was able to attend this great concert!

Indeed they are! Thanks for stopping by to visit. Happy holidays!
They’re so good, I want to go home to Chicago and see them again on December 17.
Darn, I can’t afford to. Maybe next your. As soon as they announce their 2009 US Tour, I will be counting down the days and saving up my money.
EVERY Celtic Thunder fan is henceforth REQUIRED to invite at least ten friends from church or work or their neighborhood to go to their 2009 show.
I will be WATCHING to you ENSURE you comply!
That’s nice that you support the Food Bank. We don’t have one in my town, so we give food to the poor through our church and the local homeless shelter.
I encourage each of your readers to “adopt” a homeless person or family and help feed them or invite them to your Christmas or Easter or Thanksgiving meal with YOUR family.
Not everyone is as fortunate as we are. It is important to spread our good fortune around, especially when the economy is as tight as it is now.
Thanks for adding a comment for cans! Happy Holidays.
they are one group to hope to see around for a while they are so cool!
