Comments For Cans: Top 10 Reasons You Should Comment

by Shelly Kneupper Tucker on December 9, 2008

De-lurk yourself with a click on that comment button at the bottom of the post. I have 10 good reasons why:

  • Number 10: The television news says that more people are resorting to using food bank donations this holiday season to support their dwindling incomes. So many people are losing jobs these days, you never know who you might be helping.

(Yes, I’d even help him, though I don’t think he did much to help me!)

  • Number 9: The one minute you spend to hit that comment button, by December 12th, and say a few words (“Happy Holidays!” is fine) will cause me to donate one can of food to the Tarrant County Food Bank. You don’t have to spend a penny to do a good deed!
  • Number 8: I’m not going to give that two year old can of asparagus or the pickled beets in the back of my pantry! I’m giving nutritious foods they can use!
  • Number 7: I know two non-blogging friends I intend to strong-arm coerce sweet talk into matching my donation (Watch out Big Bubba!).
  • Number 6: I’m not good in math, but I think that makes three cans for every comment!
  • Number 5: If you don’t comment, I’ll look stupid. Lord knows I hate to look stupid, and you don’t want that burden on your shoulders!
  • Number 4:If you are a blogger, and you comment by December 12th, I’ll link you at the bottom of this post.
  • Number 3: Not only that I’ll deep link to a post of your choosing! You’ll have to tell me which one you want me to list!
  • Number 2: Not only THAT I’ll even Tweet one of your posts on Twitter … because I’m a shameless hussy.
  • NUMBER ONE REASON TO COMMENT:
    I HAVE FLYING MONKEYS
AND I’M NOT AFRAID TO USE THEM!

Hello! You (and I) can thank Thorne for sending me over this way. She commented on my “Good News Monday”

I love the idea of donating a can of food for every comment you receive. How awesome of you. Linkbacks are really nice of you, but the fact that you are doing what you are doing, being selfless and giving, is enough.

You keep up the good work, keep fighting the good fight and have a great Holiday Season.

How could I not comment on a cause like this? Not possible. Had to do it.

I think I’d better comment again, just to be on the safe side. Don’t want to anger those flying monkeys after all…

My flying monkeys would never be after you…not in a jillion years. Would you like to borrow some of my flying monkeys? I bet there are days you could use them!

Just promise you will not let your flying monkeys attack my flying monkeys – I have lots of work for them to do with all the 6″x9″ rectangles coming in!!!

I thought that my flying monkeys were the offspring of yours?? You are doing such a great job with those rectangles. Wanna do a guest post?

Comedy Plus December 9, 2008 at 12:17 pm

Hoping you and yours have a very Merry Christmas. Sorry, I don’t do the Happy Holidays thing. Big hug. :)

Comedy Pluss last blog post..1955 – Part I

Merry Christmas to you too, my friend. You know that the word “holiday” simply means “holy day.” Saying “Happy Holidays” just encompasses everybody’s holy day. I’m ecumenical like that…yes, I are

OK OK… The flying monkeys got me!! This is really a great idea. Happy Holidays !!!

The cards are done, and all the gifts that need to be mailed are wrapped and packaged. Dear Oldest Son is taking all to the P.O. for me this afternoon. I am now going to clear room to finish up some more medicine bags

Glad you told me the title! I couldn’t get it to load (I guess everyone was wanting to read about bacon at the same time. You have a cruel streak, did you know that?

Happy Holidays to you! And thanks for being an inspiration. I’ve been having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit but you’ve put me one step closer to getting there!

Well, I’m proud that I did. How can we get you two steps closer? I’m from Texas, we two-step.

Thorne December 10, 2008 at 1:46 am

Okay woman… remember that those flying monkeys come back home when you’re done with them. (They miss their REAL momma!) I’m so glad Adam made it over and you stopped at his place. He rocks!!! Another can please from Thornie, my love…

I dropped off a big box for the Tacoma food bank this past Saturday. The least I can do is make sure that the Tarrant bank get three more cans.

Great idea. Add mine, please! And for every can you donate from comments here, I will donate a like number of cans to a food bank in our local area on top of the cash donation we were already planning to make. Let me go put it in writing on my blog so I’m committed!

Marcias last blog post..Christmas Tree March

I WILL add yours! And, thank you, my dear friend. You have the most generous heart I know! And you probably should be “committed,” so to speak

Glad to help with the fight against hunger. I admire what you do! We should feed the children better than we feed the dumpsters.

Thank YOU for stopping by! Now, you probably need to tell me what is best to buy for the Tarrant Area Food Bank (I keep calling it the Tarrant County Food Bank…sorry). We have quite a few cans to get together!

Dorothy December 12, 2008 at 2:28 pm

Keep the food bank full! God bless!

We are doing what we “can” And, thinking about doing this at a time of year when people forget to give…like mid-summer! Thanks for visiting.
