What's wrong with the premise of P.J. O'Rourke's book, "Give War a Chance?"

War has had all the chances it needs. It's peace that doesn't have a fighting chance.

Just goes to show you, love is everywhere, we just have to look for it. Too bad, we. as people, tend to forget sometimes that it is one world and we are, after all the same inside.
May there come a time when we can all look beyond our differences, and just learn to accept each other....warts and all!

Indeed, Toni. We all do have our warts--some of us hide them well, though.

Unfortunately I was not able to access Marcia's video. I will try again during the day. It is unfortunate that people cannot relate on more rational levels at times. I think it has a lot to do with the "what is mine, is mine" mentality that we all have at times. Plus if everyone had the same traditions, beliefs, heritage what a boring world we would have. That being said... yes, it's too bad that with all the differences that exist, we can't all act more humane to our fellow man.

carol gs last blog post..Manic Monday ~ SALE

I hope you get to see Marcia's video...it's awesome. It certainly would be a dull world if we were all cookie cutter replicas. Sort of a "Stepford Wives" world.

Ditto you and Jeni. I held on to a patch I bought as a young woman, "War is not healthy for children and other living things" --and why on earth would we want to be cruel toward either?

A lot of it comes from closed minds, but closed minds can sometimes be opened, we have to keep trying to get that wedge in, peacefully.

I love that video, too, my sister-in-law sent it to me originally. Thanks for mentioning. I hope the message gets across to someone that doesn't already get it.

The video is just magnificent. But, I doubt that anyone who doesn't "get it" already will change their views. Is that too cynical?

I do so very much agree with your words here -why can't we all just get along? We are supposed to be such an advanced society and all that and yet, we still feel the overwhelming need to pummel others. Makes no sense whatsoever. The retaliation, I do understand -don't like it, don't believe in it but I do understand that aspect. But, if people really want peace, then why can't they sit down, face to face and talk out their differences in a calm, rational and adult fashion? Guess this is one of life's quirks that will forever escape me.

Unfortunately, Jeni, the folks who agree with these words aren't the people "in charge." Until our leaders understand that the majority of us want to live in peace...well...we won't
