Seems Like This Has Happened Before

by on January 8, 2009

When my eyes blur in the morning, I know it’s time to head to my local coffee house and get a mocha. They always expect me and usually start pulling the shots for my drink when they hear me screech into a parking space.

As I moseyed in the door, Angelo greeted me with, “Hey Shelly! I was getting worried because you hadn’t been in yet.

This he said at 8:00 in the morning. Yes, my coffee habit is that bad.

I’m running late this morning,” I replied. “But y’all have me addicted. I don’t know if it’s seeing your handsome faces or the coffee, but I have to come in every morning.

I say cheesy crap like that and they give me discounts on my coffee. But, it’s “safe” to say them, because I’m old enough to be their grandm.. mother.

As Jeff and Angelo whipped up my coffee, I listened to the background music they had playing this morning. It was Carole King. I’m always surprised when I catch those young pups listening to artists that were favorites of mine some thirty-five to forty years ago.

Oh my Thunder,” I said. “I listened to that back when I was teenager. I loved listening to her and to Crosby, Stills, & Nash. I think the first album I ever bought was by Crosby, Stills, & Nash!

Which album was it?” asked Jeff.

I don’t remember anymore … you know I’ve slept since then.” I said.

There biggest album was Deja Vu,” said Angelo. “Was that it?

I tried to bite my tongue. I held my breath for three beats so I wouldn’t say it. But, I did.

Sounds familiar.

Jeff groaned; Angelo rolled his eyes; the man standing next to me spewed coffee all over the counter. As Angelo wiped it up, the man tried to apologize. Angelo just shrugged and muttered, “She does this every day.”

Can I make it up to you, fellas? This video of Carole King is not the highest quality. It’s just her lilting voice and the piano many years ago. I listened to “Tapestry” so many times I wore out the vinyl on the album. It’s for you with my apologies.

Ok, I admit I’ve had “one of those days” (major computer/internet hassles – don’t ask) but I did eventually figure out the pun LOL.

Carole King’s music (and that voice!) was such an inspiration to me. Tapestry was one of the very first albums I bought and I too pretty much wore it out. I knew the whole album by heart. Probably still do. What a trip down memory lane. I really should buy the disc.

Aw heck. I’m sorry you are having a rough day…I know that you are quick on the uptake. It was a bad pun…I admit. But, hey, all is not lost! I got someone to spew coffee! Bwahaha!

Yeah, Shelly sounds pretty familiar to me also. I was and still am a Carole King fan. Have a great day. ;-)

Thanks, Rebecca. It will be a great day now that I have my coffee.

Ah, I didn’t get that there WAS a pun until Robin admitted it took her a while, then I got it.

I LOVE Carol King’s Tapestry album, Leon bought me the CD version because my tape was so worn out. in fact, I would swear it was in Starbucks!

I have to head for youtube now, thanks a lot.

Bwahaha…you are so guileless that you don’t expect puns. Haven’t you figured out that I live & breathe puns? I work to get them in almost every post, and noooobody ever seems them but Mr. Tucker & me. For the record…I was NOT at a Starbucks! Jupiter House is our local coffee shop, and it is the vendor of choice!
