Friends. Only The Good Friday

by on February 6, 2009

Friends are pretty wonderful to have, aren’t they? I have “met” a lot of wonderful people through the course of the two years I have been blogging. They are people that I love just as much as if I saw them every day. I’m thinking about them right now as I write this and appreciating their incredible support.

Yesterday, I discovered that my blog has been hijacked by hackers. As I worried about this over on Facebook, my friends came out of the woodwork trying to help me determine what is going on with this place. We didn’t figure it out, but they were there to try. I don’t even want to think about that much today, because I am working in South Texas, and there is nothing I can do about it on the road. The likelihood is that I will have to just stop blogging, but I won’t forget the folks I have met along the way. I’ll still be able to see them over at Facebook.

During this process of posting Only The Good on Fridays, I have had several loyal friends who have joined me. I hope you will visit some of them to see what they have to say. Look for them in the “comments” section of this post, because I’m sure some of them will chime in here. If you like that wonderful graphic that Thorne made, you can copy it at her post with other “banner/icon thingies for Only the Good Friday.” Thank you, Thorne, for going to that trouble.

Tell me something good today in a comment, because I’d love to hear that things are going well with you. I hope your Friday is filled with only the good!

You’ve been hacked? Jerks!

I guess the good is in knowing that the rest of us have lives interesting and worthwhile enough that we’d never waste time, or be malicious enough, to hack someone’s blog!

 Robin, it IS good that my friends like you are not hacker jerks. I’m fighting with my urges to punch a pillow or something!

I can’t believe you’ve been hacked…that’s just crazy and wrong!

I’m sure you’ll be able to figure out how to fix it though, one of your internet friends is bound to have the answer….I wish I did!

I’m going to say this again, because I say it everytime…PLEASE don’t stop blogging…PRETTY PLEASE?? ;-)

I’ll miss your posts too much, though I must find you on facebook to make sure I don’t miss you!

Anyway, here’s my contribution for Only The Good Friday: http://tinyurl.com/bds4bh

Late checking back with you because I was on the road working. I won’t entirely give up blogging, because I have my Posterous account…but I have to do something about THIS account because it also contains my work website

Ok, Shelley -you’ll have to explain some stuff here to me. First -how does one tell that their blog has been hijacked? Remember I am basically ocmputer or blogger illiterate, so forgive my ignorance at asking what is probably a really dumb question.
And here comes question two now as well -and probably equally as stupid -but why would you have to give up blogging because of that?
Please, please, please don’t concede defeat by crawling away from these jackasses!!! I may not comment every single time I visit, but since I have you on my reader, every time it pops up that you have a new post, I do read your stuff, religiously!
Your posts -and especially the “Only the Good” are really inspiring to read and also, serve to make each of us think about ourselves and our lives and realize there is so much more about everything around us that makes life worth living, worth plodding ahead.
Peace, my friend.

Jeni, BlogHer (whose ads I have on the sidebar) contacted me and said that they wouldn’t link to me anymore because my blog “re-directs” to a hacker site. I followed a link they gave me that told me to clear the cookies on my browser, Google my blog, follow that Google link, and see where it goes. If it went to my site, I was probably OK. If not, I was hacked. Other folks have tested for me, and had no problem, but on 4 of my computers, it goes to Sattan (hackers can’t spell). It also goes there for some folks on SheWhoBlogs (who never had my cookies in their computers). Most importantly, it goes there for BlogHer! The number of “hits” I get is way down…which indicates that folks searching don’t come here. It also means that I don’t get any credit for “hits” which means that I don’t get ad revenue…which means I can’t pay blogging rent!

I’m trying to find out what to do, but my blog host hasn’t answered my support ticket. I may just have to start over.

I don’t get it? How can you still post on your blog if you’ve been hijacked? Okay, I know little to nothing about hacking.

I hope you get this straightened out soon.

Have a terrific day and weekend. :)

 I’m not sure I “get it” either!! Evidently, the hacker put a code in my blog that makes Google searches re-direct to spam sites! Hope your weekend is good, too!

Hey sweet story woman, here’s some good for ya; last night I dreamed of making medicine bags. I’ve been wondering how I was gonna pull that off with everything else I have going on right now and !bingo! in chimes my subconscious!
On blogging:
Stop Blogging; take a break… do what you need to do, love, and know that this is one blog-friend who will be here to support your decision by facebook or twitter, by phone or email-
Do you realize that I was gone nearly a year and you were still here for me?
Hang in there woman.

Thornes last blog post..Have a Green Valentine’s Day!

I’ll be excited to see medicine bags. And, I know that ALL my blogging buddies will still come around, if I can figure out what’s going on. I think it is beyond my expertise…and I don’t know who to contact if my blog host won’t help.

Wow…well, I for one, have to say that I certainly hope resolving this *issue* (why hack someone’s blog? Not enough attention as a child?! ) does NOT result in you giving up your blog! You are one of the first ‘bloggers’ I began “following” when I first found the blogshere, and have been following you ever since! (Don’t be scared…I’m harmless  ) You have certainly inspired *me* many-a-time along the way, and I am certain that I’m not alone in this!

Keep it up, my friend. Don’t let the bullies win.

Mos last blog post..Well, Good for Me…

I know you are harmless  . And, you are one of my favorite bloggers. I’m glad to have found each other. I will figure out something to do for blogging, even if it’s just over on Posterous. I appreciate your support. Have a fun weekend.

This is definitely an Only the Good Friday! After weeks of bone chilling, sub-zero, nasty, windy weather it hit 32 today!!!!! And there was no wind AND the sun was shining!!! Doesn’t get much better than that in northern Wisconsin in February!! YIPEEEEEE!!!!

I’m glad for you! I hope you have much more nice weather. Did the groundhog see his shadow? I forget which prediction that means, anyway. We just have to sit back and take it, eh?

 I would be so sad if you stopped blogging!

I so enjoy reading what you write.

Darn hackers!

Kathleens last blog post..2.6.09 – Good on Friday

 Darn hackers is right, Kathleen! At least I can still log into my blogs. Some people who have gotten this hack can’t do that anymore! Blogging has been wonderful for me, because I’ve met a lot of nice people (like you) AND I no longer sit around on street corners talking to myself! I’m going to see what I can do with this place, if I can find a techie to help.

I’m holding my breath and hoping it was a glitch with the blog host or something. We’ll see if the BlogHer team can get to me without a re-direct.
