That’s the screen saver I have on my iPhone. The face was hanging on the wall at that wonderful hotel in Madisonville, Texas that I told y’all about. I told you a three part ghost story, (if you didn’t see it start with Just My Imagination?). I wish I had taken a picture of it with my good camera, but it probably wouldn’t have been much better.
I find myself piddling today, as I try to avoid doing some simple things that I have been putting off for weeks. The longer I put them off, the harder it is to do them. But, I’m playing with pictures anyway.
I’ve put this as the background for my computer:
That’s from the beach in Galveston when I visited last year. I wanted to put this picture of a dog I fell in love with at my coffee house:

But, he just makes me laugh, and the five cats would not approve.
Really I should put this picture of an owl glaring at me:
Perhaps he would make me feel guilty enough to work.
Do y’all ever find yourself faced with tasks that you don’t want to do? What do you do to practice “avoidance?”

YES!!! Right now… I’m trying to do only 15 minutes of work on those projects… everyday… Not a marathon, so that everything else on my list gets ignored (and grows), but just making a dent of 15 minutes on each dreaded project. Harder than it sounds.
You aren’t kidding. I’m doing exactly the same thing. I have 5 larger projects (again, all of them are simple—but time consuming) and I’m rotating working on them with a timer. Great minds run along the same track!
Isn’t this part of the learning experience we call life? I avoid lots of things… cleaning, cooking, laundry, dishes – you get the picture. I also avoid confrontation. Right now I need to put #1 son back in step with the life at this house – he needs to put in a bit of effort to find a job, altho that may not be possible. AND he needs to contribute to his “keep” around here. I’m ashamed to say I raised a lazy bum.

I avoid all those things, too. Hey—kids are the same wherever they are (and they are “kids” for a LOT longer than WE were!). Tough love, girl. I don’t like confrontation either, but you have to save your own sanity
I can spend hours on the web looking around, sometimes I call it “research”. But I am really in trouble when I do “research” on Ebay.
I love to cook, so I cook when I don’t want to do other chores. My husband will overlook a dirty bathroom when he gets a good dinner.

Hey—”research” on E-bay is legitimate—sort of. Yeah, I used to like to cook when I could use bacon grease. The thrill is gone now
I “prepare”. You know … gather things to “prepare” to do the wash. Make a list to “prepare” for starting to cook. Browse through the TV listings to “prepare” for what I might be doing this evening. Surf the Internet to “prepare” for that blog article about Elizbethan Renaissance that I really, really, really mean to write.
I am really good at getting all the prepareing done. It’s the doing that I’m not doing.

HA! I’m with you on that. One must always start with a list. It can take hours to write it…and then you have to edit it…and type it really BIG so you can see it without your glasses. No wait, put it in little “boxes” on the page, so you can cut those out and tape them to the fridge—it will feel so wonderful when you finish something to take it off of the fridge. And, when you cut them out, you need your fancy scissors that make the curly-que edges. Oh, and do them in different colors for each different kinds of tasks…
Yeah, I’m with you on that
Hahaha… I got a million of um. Yesterday’s avoidance is prolly my favorite. It was the first beautiful day in … forever, I think. I saw that sunshine and my head started racing… work in the garden, get some laundry done, clean up the front porch… pull weeds in the front yard.
Man! I got tired just thinking about it all! In the end, I decided that the first nice day would be perfect sitting in the sun with a book and coffee. Muahahaha….

That’s what I finally resorted to doing. But, I did get a few things done—very few. Muahahaha…is right
