Thanks for sharing your story, Amy.

There are only a handful of the 2 CD interview I did with Dan including 13 of his favorite songs that we spoke about. Kind of a fly on the wall take on how these songs were made from the man that made them!

The 2 CD set is available at my website - www.fmodyssey.com as well as a digital download only of an interview I did with Jean Fogelberg last year about his final days, the making of Love In Time and many questions from Dan fans answered by Jean

Endorsed by the official Dan Fan web site. Spread the word, once these are gone, there are no more.

I was in diapers when Dan began his career as a national recording artist. I loved country music and hated what we had to listen to on the school bus as I got older. Although, I didn't realize it til now, Dan's songs were welcome breaks between what I thought was too noisy, no feeling yelling. I remember sending up a silent prayer that Leader of the Band or Same Old Lang Syne would come over the airways. Dan's music left no boundaries for me. There was feeling in Dan's pen.
As I got older and married a man nine years older than me, he would put Dan's music on and I remember loving the sound and loving the introspective lyrics. We moved to northern New Mexico and in those mountains of the Rockies, I felt I had come home, nothing smelled like the pine that filled the air and riding through those mountains we would put a CD on of Dan. I never felt more at peace. As many marriages do, mine failed and because of medical issues, I had to leave my beautiful and beloved Rocky mountains and go home to family in Indiana.
Just recently, I began remembering those songs of Dan's that meant so much to me and I began exploring his music. I found songs that I remember loving as I was growing up and they were all Dan's. Watching the concert videos on youtube, I could see a man who was full of life and enjoyed it, I could see a man who seemed comfortable in his own skin. His eyes showed a kindness and a glimpse into a heart that wasn't afraid to show its vulnerabilities. I welcomed his sense of humor. He took me back to a time when I dreamed of any possibility and wasn't so shattered from divorce and chronic pain.
My heart sunk as I learned Dan had passed away. I was regretful that I would never have the chance to see him in concert or let him know how much he meant and still means to me. I heard him mention Taos, New Mexico in an interview and hoped that maybe our paths had crossed and I just never knew.
Dan's legacy lives on in my heart and I am so thankful he left a treasure of himself within his music for many more generations to find.

Oh and DuWayne, I think all that love Dan think we are his biggest fan. But that's okay. His talent was big enough for us all.

I know I'm too late to win the CD, but being a Dan fan for most of his career (1974 concert in Omaha, NE opening for the Eagles) and beyond I had to stop and write.
Here's to the Illinois boy. Though your life has come Full Circle and you're no longer Drawing Pictures or Sketches, you have reached the Higher Ground up in the Stars sitting next to The Leader of the Band in the River of Souls. Down here on earth your music is a Living Legacy and will live Ever On in the hearts of all the generations to come. It was all Part of the Plan.
I know why so many hadn't heard of Dan's passing. He wasn't in the news a lot because he was a good boy so there was very little coverage. Had he been a bad boy the media would have been all over his passing. Sad, but true.
He was such a wonderfully talent man and I hope that his wife Jean will release more of his music in the years to come.
Monday on our way home from the Air Force Marathon in Ohio, my hubby and I will be stopping in Peoria, IL to visit Dan's Memorial, drive along Fogelberg Parkway and stop for beer from the neighborhood grocer from his song Same Old Lang Syne. And I don't even drink beer. We'll also sit on the bench by the two pines where he used to go to "think".
There are so many reasons to love Dan. Just as many reasons to miss him. Until we meet in heaven I'll listen to my Dan only iPod where ever I go, or on my computer with my two year old grandson on my lap who is already a big Dan fan. He can even *almost* say his name. :^D

Ok, I can't resist. I'm probably his biggest fan, continue to be and likely always will be. Besides a love for his music, we share a passion for the Colorado Mountains, like few others do. The forest, ponds, lakes, cliffs, falls, meadows, and wildlife...

I feel so privileged to have met such a legend! I knew at the time that I was making history but I never knew Dan had such a following till I released the interview. I feel so much more connected with my fans now. I am truly blessed!

Ok, I am a much more 'rabid' Dan fan than anyone here so far.....I have almost all his albums, know just about all his music - not just the popular tunes - and some of the 'unknowns' are the best. I knew he had terminal cancer and that he died. Probably the best thing about this CD set is that it is bringing back old fans and creating new ones - glad to see that!
BTW on August 13 (Dan's birthday) a new CD that he recorded before he died will be released. I hope you will all buy that (even tho it will not be released as an LP - I have some of those too!)
