This little piggy is back home again, and I couldn’t be more delighted.
A “vacation,” however, is different in my mind than a “road trip,” because road trip is synonymous with “work.” Usually, when I travel for work, I don’t take the time to explore my surroundings. I get up in the mornings, tell stories, then come back to the hotel and collapse until the next day. As much as I enjoy the storytelling to children, I rarely enjoy the “travel” part of it.
These last two trips to San Antonio, I had the pleasure of staying in the home of a dear friend. Although technically these were “road trips,” Judy made them seem like “vacations.” She is one of those fun-loving people with a sense of adventure who is always on the go. I can’t keep up with her, and have to continually remind myself that chronologically she is older than I am. You wouldn’t guess it.After work, we had adventures together in San Antonio, and she encouraged me to do some exploring on my own, instead of plopping on the bed to rest. We giggled until all hours of the morning and I got “blog fodder” for weeks to come. It was wonderful … and yet …
I found myself longing for home and my routine!
Crazy, eh? I didn’t get to rest when I first arrived, because I had to quickly write a guest post for another blog. Now, I’m unpacked and ensconced in my own little nest, looking back fondly on my last two weeks. It’s good to be home on this Only The Good Friday (and I’m already anticipating my next adventure!).
I have some other “good” to share, though:
- Last week, I posted about the artwork at a San Antonio school, and encouraged you to vote in a Doode 4 Google contest. Our candidate, Christin Engleberth, won! Thanks to all of you who voted to help this young artist achieve her dream of a $15,000 scholarship.
- For you photographers, my friend Robin, at Around The Island, has a new Sunday “prompt” for the summer. Here is her announcement:
Each Sunday, beginning May 31st, Around the Island will be hosting a brand new summer photo project and you’re invited! Share pictures of your barbecues, your beaches, your cannonballing kids, that island sunset, an old pair of flip flops, anything that says summer to you. We’ll be playing each week all summer long – the linkie will go up at http://aroundtheisland.blogspot.com/ each Saturday night at midnight Israel time (5pm EST) so keep those cameras handy and start grabbing those quintessential summer shots. See you on the 31st for Summer Stock Sunday!
- Jessica The Rock Chick moved into her new, self-hosted, WordPress “digs.” She’s always a fun read.
So, tell me …what’s good with you this Friday? Leave me a comment, or join these fine folks in writing a post about your Only The Good. We are trying to spread an “optimism virus” on the internet, by only writing about “good” on Friday.

Welcome Home! Thanks for sharing your road trip.
This Friday we are planting two yards. We usually wait until Memorial Day Week End to avoid frost.
I love to garden…so it is a Good Friday!

I can’t imagine “frost” so late in the year! I’m sitting here in shorts and burning up. I hope you enjoy your garden!
Hurrah for Christin! Thanks for the update.

I’m so proud that she won! I wish I could have shown a picture of her artwork! Have a great weekend.
It sounds like a fun place to visit. I have several friends staying on the River Walk this very week-end.
There really is no place like home. I love to get a way but the routine of home is comforting. This “Good Friday” I’ll be in the comforts of my own garden having a “good old time.”

I hope your friends enjoy that River Walk. I could spend hours there (if my feet would let me!). Have a great weekend and enjoy your garden!
Welcome Home, oh great traveler!! San Antonio looks so beautiful. I do know what you mean about missing the home routine. Vacations are wonderful, but I love the comfort of my home. Such great news that Christin won that scholarship!!

So much good today you’ve shared – and you’ve made me want another field trip – ’cause my working field trips were really Leon working and me getting to just relax and view the mountains and ocean – and forcing him to take me to lunch and dinner, grin. A working man must eat, right?

I’ve got some good news for this Friday — over the course of this week, my debut novel, Mirror Blue, went live on multiple online sites for ordering (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, and Target) and it’s in computer databases to be ordered by bookstores. YIPPEE!
Sounds like you had a great trip. That picture of The River Walk is gorgeous!
