Perhaps you can see, from the name of this blog, why this particular store caught my eye.
The Eclectic Art Gallery, on San Antonio’s Riverwalk, was up on street level, which meant I had to drag my tired old body up a flight of stairs from the river level. Once I spied the place I had to go there. It was well worth my attention, and I’d have walked those stairs twice to see this lovely art gallery.
As soon as I sashayed into the establishment, my eyes were almost assaulted by color. “Assaulted” isn’t the right word for a pleasurable experience, but you get the picture (so to speak).
I wandered around the art gallery marveling at the imaginations that produced images such as these.
Although I was enchanted with most of the artwork, my pocketbook didn’t allow me to take any of it home with me, so all I got is pictures. What I admired most about the the Eclectic Art Gallery is that most of the artists they featured were from right here in the Lone Star State (that’s my neck of the woods, you know).
As soon as I win my lottery, I’ll have a house that is as colorful as this art gallery. Well, maybe not quite this colorful — because I don’t think I’d be able to sleep in a place this psychedelic. But I’ll definitely fill my house with work from Texas artists. If you are walking the San Antonio Riverwalk as you travel across Texas, take time to visit The Eclectic Art Gallery. The splashes of color in this beautiful gallery will amaze you, I’m sure. And, if you are going to take home a memento of your trip, it would be much nicer to buy from a local artist than to pick up some souvenir made in China.
