THIS Is Summer In Texas

by Shelly Kneupper Tucker on June 21, 2009

Summer in Texas means a lot of things, these are just a few. I visited a local farm and bought lavender and strawberries. Watch next week, and I’ll tell you more about those trips (with more photos) in the series I call My Neck of The Woods.

Are those the strawberries you used for your jam? Mmmmmm! They look perfect! I planted sunflowers on the side of my house this year!!! So far, they are about a foot tall. I think I have a ways to go before I actually see some flowers. I’ve never grown them before! Don’t run with scissors! You might cause damage to that totally funky top you are wearing! Love it!!!!

I WAS running with scissors … from the bees! Yep, those are the strawberries … OMG they are good. Your cardinals and jays will love those sunflowers. I didn’t grow any, but I have to put seeds out there for mine or they line up on the deck and glare at me.

Sunflowers and deep blue skies – that could be Israel too :) .

I adore fresh strawberries, but they’re already out of season here. I’m making up for it with obscene quantities of cherries though. (Speaking of which, I think I’m going to go grab some from the fridge right now.)

Three great photos. Love those strawberries. We had a good crop in our garden, too. And your blue sky is welcome; New Jersey has been gray and rainy. Have fun, but careful with the scissors.

That sky is gorgeous blue. It is hot in NC – can’t imagine how hot it is in Texas! I like your shirt – very nice design – where did you find it if you recall? I don’t know how is it possible for strawberries to last so long in the grocery store – the fresh pick has to be eaten or sugared very fast!

OMG! Those strawberries look absolutely awesomely delicious! Good thing my son’s not near you or you would have NO strawberries, at all!

I’ve got lavender and strawberries over in my side garden (one of the sunniest spots in the yard – we have a very shady property.) My strawberries aren’t ripe yet. It’s cold up here this summer.

The top picture of the sunflowers is really striking.
