Unexpected Maturity

by Shelly Kneupper Tucker on June 29, 2009

This is my favorite photograph of my beloved spousal unit. It’s a self-portrait he made when he was a teenager. Don’t you just see the joy of youth in this?

Wild man

Wild man

Fortunately, most of the time he is more like the above than this more solemn picture below. In fact, it was hard to make him keep a straight face. If you look closely at his eyes, you’ll see the intelligence, and just a hint of the mischief that remains a part of his nature.

When did he get so serious?

The top picture is fantastic!! I wish I had one like that of me before my eyes turned all responsible! You can definitely see a peek of that mischief still in his eyes! That is a good thing!!!!!

I wasn’t aware that you turned all responsible! Bwahahaha. Just kidding. With five kids, you have no choice. But, I think you still are pretty mischievous yourself.

Wonderful series devoted to loving husband! We can’t survive marriage without love and little craziness and a lot of sense of humor to sail us through good and uneasy times! Great entry!

Love the idea of the before and after. You must be very organized to have the before in a handy place! Coax him to replicate the expression, mouth open and all. Photo 1 is so carefree! We should all take one like it today!

I’m afraid that if we tried to recreate the original it would be missing something — the hair! He wears a buzz cut now.

Love that flying hair! I’ve long thought his eyes had a sparkle, and besides, he’d have to have an awfully well developed sense of fun to be so wonderfully suited for you :) .
