Don’t y’all just hate it when your body won’t cooperate? If you haven’t had that experience, you haven’t gotten as old as I am … yet. It’ll happen, if you are lucky. I despise getting old, until I consider the alternative.
My back went all wonky on me last week. I’m pretty sure that my body realized that my mind was all excited about getting a lot of work done, and decided to be obstinate. Now, I can’t comfortably sit, stand, or recline! If I try to stay in any one position for more than about nine minutes at a time, my back “seizes up” and I can’t move. Note that I have to use the word “recline” because I didn’t listen when Mrs. Karkalitz tried to explain the usage of the words “lie” and “lay” when I was in the 6th grade. Let that be a lesson to you, children! If you think you are soooo smart and refuse to listen to your teachers, then build a big vocabulary.
Today, I would love to be participating in Robin’s Summer Stock Sunday at Around the Island. Bloggers are sharing pictures of what “summer” means to them (go visit that post to find a lot of fun photos). Right now, “summer” to me means Caladryl lotion for my poison ivy and a heating pad for my back. I don’t suppose you want to see pictures?
So, I’m taking this opportunity (and writing this post nine minutes at a time) to pass along an award that Jamie at Duward Discussion gave to me. I was plumb tickled to see it, and I appreciate her kindness in thinking of me. Although I don’t pass along “bloggy awards” often, it’s time to do it now.

For now, I’m going to get my husband to carry my computer downstairs to the kitchen cabinet so I can write while standing up or while sitting. I have to get him to carry stuff for me, because the heaviest I can manage right now is a coffee cup — and I have to hold it just right! But, I have work to do: I want to answer last weeks comments, because I was remiss! I want to edit some pictures ! I want to tell you more about our trip to the Hill Country (and a haunted hotel)! All of it has to be done nine durned minutes at a time!
Pity I can’t write while lying down … laying down ….reclining.

I would take that, too! My body will probably do pretty much what it wants to do, though, so I’m just learning to work in nine minute bursts.

I also had a terrible back ache all week! I had big plans also. How weird is that! I laid around all week and could not sit for long either. It was miserable. I think I was lifting potted plants around and that is what did it to me. Its somewhat better today but still not 100%. It makes me nuts to have to be messed up that way! I hope you feel better soon too!
