Don’t Fret

by Shelly Kneupper Tucker on September 14, 2009

Worry isn’t good for you, so don’t fret. Unless you are a guitar player. Then, I guess that fretting is alright.

Don't fret

Don't fret

I’m hiding out for a few days, as I rehearse ghost stories for next month. My Muse is not happy about this at all. She doesn’t mind writing stories, but she is not fond of rehearsing stories she has already written! Especially without an audience.

Artsy Bench in Mendocino

Artsy Bench in Mendocino

What The Muse wants to do is go sit on this bench, but we would have to go to Mendocino, California to do it. That wouldn’t be all bad. [UPDATE: One reader, Kilauea Poetry (who is an impressive photographer) wished she could see it larger. I’ve posted it on my Posterous account, where you can click the picture to see it in more detail

We have tried telling stories to the mirror this morning, but The Muse keeps getting all caught up looking for hairs on my chin. We tried lining the five cats up to pretend that they are an audience, but they keep yawning … then we yawn and we can’t finish the story.

I’m trying not to worry about it because, as I said, fretting is not good for you. I must do something to calm down. Ah! Aromatherapy would be good, wouldn’t it? I think I’ll fry some bacon, because that aroma is the most heavenly smell on earth.

Y’all don’t fret, because I’ll be back later in the week (sooner, if The Muse will just shut up and tell stories). Meanwhile, you can visit folks at Monochrome Weekly and see a lot of pictures in black and white.

I think leaning back on that bench might leave its mark – but it is fine subject.

I want that bench. Actually I want to go to Mendocino or even better the whole of Sonapacino (Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino) for the wine tour. Pretend you are in some little winery on that bench and sip some wine. If the muse gets tipsy enough she might stop fretting.
