We are just back from the “Lite Up The Night” hot air balloon glow at the Plano Balloon Festival.
The festival is in its 30th year, but I haven’t been to it in at least twenty years. I enjoyed seeing the kaleidoscope of colors and watching them glow in the dark. More pictures will follow tomorrow once I have culled out the worst of them (I will probably post them at my Posterous account to save server space and to show them larger). I’ve discovered I’m not so great at taking night pictures! Would y’all remind me to take a tripod?
There is still time for you to see some of the festival, if you live in North Texas! Tomorrow the balloon launches are at 7:00 a.m. (they probably have coffee) and again at 6:00 p.m. It’s at Oak Point Park in Plano, and you can expect to pay $5.00-$10.00 for parking and $5.00 per person to enter the park. If you like hot air balloons, it’s worth every stinkin’ penny … and I’m not full of hot air on this one.

Caught a big balloon festival many years ago in California. It is still on the list of ways to catch a ride. They are just beautiful. Pavoratti in his one and only very bad movie did have one magnificent scene: A balloon flying over the wine grape vinyards while a soaring aria provided musical accompaniement … sigh

I have always wanted to go to a big balloon festival like that. I’m in the wrong part of the country for them, it seems.
