I gave it the “good old college try.” Perhaps I did not matriculate at the proper institute of higher learning? Last year I tried to use the calendar on my telephone and Google Calendar to try to keep my life “in order” … it was THE most disorganized year of my life! I don’t think I got one single thing done on time.
Now, people, I have ten fingers on my hands and a brain in my head. It would seem logical that I could master digital technology. It eludes my grasp. Online calendars simply will not work for me.
You probably all have suggestions of the technology that you use. Go ahead and make them, because I’d love to hear that somebody benefits using technology. I’ll politely read your suggestions and then ignore them. This girl is sticking with the tried and true calendar on paper!
While you make your suggestions, I’m going to fill out the birthdays on my day planner and our large kitchen calendar … with brightly colored pens. Sure it takes some time to enter everything in writing each year, but in the end it takes less time to do that than to re-learn how to make digital entries on Google Calendar each time I want to add a note! I can’t wait to carry my day planner with me when I visit a library so I can decorate it with quotes and ideas.
You can’t do this with a Google calendar!
When Google technology allows me to scribble on the calendar, I’ll try it again (she said, with fingers crossed behind her back). Meanwhile, did you want your birthday on my calendar? Better tell it to me again.

I still use paper calendars! I have one for my purse & one for the kitchen wall (the Master). To quote my mama – if it ain’t on the kitchen calendar, it ain’t happening! Hubby is a true Luddite/technophobe so I have to have a paper calendar for his reference. I do use Cozi on my computer as well but prefer paper. I don’t have a cell with internet capabilities yet to try anything else.

You told me about Cozi … and I looked at it, but decided not to even try. I’m comfortable with paper calendars, so I’ll be a Luddite, too
I use a paper calendar. I am fairly tech savvy, but there’s something about the way I can look at a paper calendar/planner that makes it all easier to process for me. I never got into using a Blackberry or any sort of calendar software. It feels too limiting, even though it’s probably less so.

I like seeing the big picture, too. And, I don’t like having to switch applications on my phone or computer just to know what’s up. Makes me feel like a dork, but I’m not going to keep on trying to be “tech savvy,” as you put it.
Give me a big (and preferably a very pretty one or a really funny one (like maybe a Maxine one) calendar -the kind you can write in names, appointments and maybe even another extra note or two on it or along the top and sides!
I can’t remember to deal with the computer calendars -not at all! Way too impersonal for openers and well, I’m just to darned forgetful to open it and check it all the time. I need one that would be like maybe a desktop thing -open ALL the time -for me to use something on the computer! So you are far from alone in this deal with calendars!
And all this reminds me that I need to bug Mandy to find a convenient place to hang the big calendar I got her for Christmas so we can begin to ink in all the many appointments the kids have, the doctor appointments I have set up already as well as all kinds of other little “reminders” about stuff in general!

I like a big calendar, too, Jeni. My arthritic hands need some space to scrawl. Our problem was finding a space to hang the big calendar, too! Our house is pretty much wall-to-wall stuff.
I’ve become very fond of the calendar on my iPhone. As things come up, I add them right away and set reminders and it’s always with me so it works well. I can’t do computer calendars, either. Give the iPhone one a try, though!

Oh, girl, I tried the iPhone. It’s hard to keep up if I can’t see the whole picture in front of me. And, Mr. Tucker needs to know what is happening, too. I try to keep him informed, anyway. I just need a paper calendar, because… well I’m a dadgum dinosaur. That’s all there is to it.
