Tattered Lace Curtains

by Shelly Kneupper Tucker on January 10, 2010

On a recent walk, before the weather got so cold, we ventured into the Solana complex near Southlake. Years ago I often exercised on the hiking trail they had for their employees.

Guarding the temple.

Guarding the temple.

No. I didn’t work there, but no one ever stopped me. That’s where we saw the beautifully entwined trees that I photographed for Lover’s Embrace. I’m afraid there is a long story that I wrote to go with that picture, but you can see it larger on that post.

On the same walk, we saw these wisteria vines draped around a gazebo. They reminded me of tattered lace curtains I once saw flapping in the window of an abandoned house. If you click the picture, it should show up larger (if I uploaded it right … if not, please let me know). It’s in black and white because I thought that fit the mood of the place.

You can find monochrome photos by real photographers at Monochrome Weekend. They have re-vamped the site and I’m not sure I understand it. I think if you click on the “showcase,” you can see photographs that Aileni chose to spotlight (clicking them will take you to the photographer’s site).

Drop me a comment and I will come by to visit you. I’m practicing my procrastination skills today. I’m supposed to be writing a grant, but my A.D.D. is showing.

Nice contrast between the strong diagonal lines and the wisps of the wisteria.

Thank you, dear. I wish we had caught the wisteria with icicles dripping from it. That would have been really tattered!
