Zap!

by Shelly Kneupper Tucker on May 12, 2010

I’m buried in paperwork! Send reinforcements! In desperation I am attacking a pile of paper work that has been hanging like the Sword of Damocles over my head. OK, maybe that’s not the right image. Technically it is spread all over my desk, the bed, the floor and three card tables; and it won’t stab me, but I could get a paper cut. I ignored it as long as I could, but now I have no choice. I must finish!

It leaves me feeling like the ant in this wood carving must: caught with no way to escape! Go ahead and click the photo, so you can appreciate the full effect.

Wood carving of frog eating an ant

Gotcha!

Did you see that look in the ant’s eye? Yeah. I recognized it, too.

That carving was on display at the Take 190 West festival in Killeen, Texas earlier this year and it caught my eye. I told you about that festival and showed you some of the fantastic artwork the children did. This carving of a frog “zapping” an ant wasn’t created by children, but by a man in a local wood carving guild. I’ve lost his card somewhere in this mess on my desk.

Excuse me for a bit while I dig through it. Or maybe, I’ll just kick back with a glass of vino and wait for it all to magically disappear. Which would you do?

Vino, definitely vino. It makes the paperwork so much less annoying!
