Two Shall Be As One

by Shelly Kneupper Tucker on August 9, 2010

It was a wedding out of a fairy tale! Our prince married his princess bride overlooking the coastline in Mendocino in a ceremony that was enchanting.

Indeed, I put down the camera for the duration of the ceremony, so I won’t have pictures of it until the photographer delivers his work (I’ll bore you with more photos on Facebook, if you’d like). It’s a good thing I didn’t try to take pictures, because I confess I started weeping with joy and didn’t stop for the entire ceremony. It wasn’t just me sitting around blubbering; I don’t think there was a dry eye there.

I do have a few photos to share (you knew I would).

I got to watch the bride prepare her veil. Although I didn’t catch her smiling in this photograph, when she did smile it was 100 watt.

The photographer took the bride outside to stage some photos where they would be standing during the ceremony. I elbowed him out of the way for a shot or two.

When the groom and his posse walked down from the hotel (no white horses were available for the Prince and his entourage), I couldn’t stop myself from snapping pictures. I just love to see men dressed up in tuxedos!

At this point, I my husband wrenched the camera out of my hand I put down my camera to enjoy the wedding.

When the bride came down the aisle, all eyes turned to her … except mine. I watched the groom! Our son had not seen his bride all day, and had never seen the spectacular wedding dress she had chosen. I wanted to see his face. When he laid eyes on her, y’all, he broke into a smile and his lips started to quiver. That is what turned on the waterworks for me. The whole ceremony was absolutely incredible.

At the reception, I picked up my camera again. The bride and groom staged a kiss for us. Our son assured everyone that he always kisses with his eyes wide open.

Their first dance as husband and wife was lovely, but I enjoyed when they cut loose after a few dances.

This morning the happy couple are packing their rented station wagon to make the trek back to their home in Portland. A honeymoon will happen soon, but for now they must go back to the real world.

How does this story end? Just like a fairy tale. They will live happily ever after!

What a lovely ceremony from the few photos you posted. I love the hydrangeas (spelling???) in her bouquet. A handsome couple to boot. I wish them many years of happiness and joy!

Elizabeth, the hydrangeas were lovely, but they wouldn’t be my first pick for a ceremony. They wilt pretty quickly (my husband called them de-hydrangeas, because they dehydrated!).

adorable!! I love weddings! Based on these few pics, I can tell already that the wedding had a lot of personality. Love the detailing on her dress! Can’t wait to see more ;)

Don’t worry, Jessica. I’ll bore you to tears with photos.

Congratulations to the new couple, and congrats to you for surviving the ceremony!

Shelly Kneupper Tucker August 10, 2010 at 8:32 am

Thank you, Van. I was soggy, but I survived.

You certainly acquired a beautiful in-law and the pictures are truly fun despite hubby’s confiscation of the picture taking device.

Shelly Kneupper Tucker August 10, 2010 at 8:34 am

He didn’t really confiscate it, Jamie. I put it down of my own volition. Otherwise, I’d have been elbowing the preacher out of the way for a better shot :-)

many blessings to the happy couple. I would have been blubbering, too. I always do. (and I have two weddings to attend this weekend!)
Hugs to you and yours, Ms. Shelley.

One word: tissue! Oh, and two words: waterproof mascara!

I always cry in weddings. I wish the new couple a long and happy life together, (at least the same as me, I am 32 years married and I hope there are many more years to share with my husband)

Shelly Kneupper Tucker August 10, 2010 at 9:03 am

32 years! Congratulations to you, Lola. I hope that our kids get that many … and that YOU and your husband get that many MORE!

Thank you, Robin! Those kids are so adorable that it’s hard not to be proud.

I could not help but notice how much the bride resembles you! And you know what they say about that. Glad to hear that it was a smash of a wedding, kicked off with the boots made for admiring. Well done!

Congratulations! A beautiful couple…how proud you must be. Isn’t it great when kids grow up so well?

Shelly Kneupper Tucker August 10, 2010 at 4:23 pm

They are pretty wonderful people. We keep calling the “kids,” but they are a man and woman now. Makes me weepy to admit it. Where did the time go?
