Name that Tune Contest Winner!

i_feel_pretty.jpg A few days ago, I started a blog contest called Name That Tune. I showed y’all this picture of a mannequin in a local store, and asked you what she was singing. The response has been delightful! I’ve enjoyed learning some new songs and seeing how your twisted little minds work.

I appreciate every one of you for entering, and wish I could give a prize to each of you, but my lottery numbers were not a match. Google ads don’t pay worth diddly. So, I have to really pick one winner! You didn’t make it easy for me!

Eric was disappointed, because he thought she was singing “I Enjoy Being A Girl.” Nobody picked that one!

These were the entries I received:

  • Janet:I Feel Pretty from Westside Story
  • Susan Helene Gottfried: MmmmBop
  • KansasA :Somewhere Over The Rainbow
  • Rebecca T : New York, New York
  • Stephanie: Lady Marmalade
  • Jamie: Diamond’s are a Girl’s Best Friend or Who Will Buy
  • Courtney: Candyman or Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy From Company B
  • Barbara: I’m gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair or Sometimes A Lady.
  • Marcia : Tomorrow
  • Lesha: Money Can’t Buy Me Love
  • YellowRose: “Bitch” shock
  • Jessica The Rock Chick: I’m Still Standing by Elton John
  • Moana: The National Anthem (”from sea to shining seaaaa”)
  • Lydia seconded that, but she doesn’t get it as an entry, sorry
  • Robin: Magenta’s verse of Touch a Touch a Touch a Touch Me from Rocky Horror.
  • Jen: Everything’s Coming Up Roses
  • Kendra said If It Makes You Happy (Sheryl Crow) or Dancing Queen by Abba
  • Thorne: “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cindy Lauper or “Loving You” by Minnie Ripperton
  • Nashvegas: Kate Pierson’s part on “Shiny Happy People.”
  • Liz: “I feel pretty- Oh so pretty- from My Fair Lady unfortunately, Janet beat her to it.-
  • RittyRats: “Anything You Can Do,” a song from the musical Annie Get Your Gun
  • Mimi Lenox: “Send In the Clowns”

Now, I have to tell you that I was real partial to “Anything You Can Do” and “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair.” This gal looks pretty sassy, so I can see her singing either of these. But, this is the e-mail that I sent to me as I posted the contest:

The e-mail doesn’t lie. So, Janet, I’m sending you this FABULOUS PRIZE from Rhinestones Boutique right here in Denton, TX. If I see it on E-Bay, I’ll know who the seller is!

My thanks to
Life is Rantastic, Thorne’s World, Knitting Passion, and Tales of a Former Michigander for promoting the contest. I asked my spousal unit to pick a number, and it matched Kendra at Tales of A Former Michigander. You are all on my blogroll and Technorati favorites. Kendra, let me know your address, and I’ll send this to you. No, not the wine! Just the feather fluff to decorate the bottle (or tease a cat).

Name That Tune Contest

dsc02201.JPG

I told y’all in yesterday’s post that we would have a contest today (aside: go see the video I posted, if you haven’t already). I showed you the prize that you could win, as a teaser. Some of you jumped the gun and tried to name a song associated with the prize! That’s OK, it was good practice for you. The picture I want you to consider is the one above!

Last week, I was window shopping in downtown Denton, Texas on the square. At a boutique called “Rhinestones,” I saw a mannequin that was unlike any I had seen before. I couldn’t decide if I should laugh or be very frightened! Whooee! She’d be a scary Halloween decoration!

I got up close and personal with her, and realized that she looked to me like she was in the midst of belting out a song. I wondered, “What song could it be?” AhHA! I decided that I wanted y’all to tell me that!

Hence, a Name That Tune Contest. This is the mischief I have in mind:

prize-2.jpgLook at that gal above, and figure out what song you think she’s crooning. Then, hit the comment button at the bottom of the page and tell me. Tell me what she is singing; Name That Tune. You don’t have to be a blogger to enter. Lurkers, come out of the woodworks! Now, if you are like me, you think of what you meant to write after you have pressed the send button. I will allow two entries per person!

The deadline for entries is Thursday, October 4th at 11:59 p.m. Texas Time.

I’ll announce a winner of the FABULOUS PRIZE to the left on Friday, October 5th.

Do whut? You say, “What in tarnation is that thang?” Why it’s a hanger for your bangles and bobbles! You put earrings and necklaces on it. Or, you could hang spooky decorations on it and make it a Halloween tree. Maybe I should have a contest to find other uses for it? Nah, one contest is enough.

But, wait! No! I need to confuse my life some more!
Bloggers, I’d love some advertisement for this contest. Y’all know I would advertise for you! If you will mention the Name That Tune contest in a post and link to this post, I will do three things:

  • I’ll give you a link in my blogroll on the sidebar (if you don’t already have one).
  • I’ll make you a Technorati Favorite (if you aren’t already).
  • AND, I’ll put your name in the pot for a random drawing for this FABULOUS PRIZE:
  • dsc02206.JPGClick it for a larger view. No, you don’t get the bottle of spirits, and I don’t want to hear any wining. You get that fluffy little thingie on top.
What do you mean, “What is it?”
That right there is a handy dandy wine bottle decorator. Or, it can be a very short-lived cat toy. Or, you can re-gift it.
Y’all think my ideas of prizes are strange, don’t you? Well, humor me and enter the contest (and if you are feeling kind, send some other folks to play).
