Quick Links #4

Tomorrow, I’m observing the One Day Blog Silence. Not just for the victims of the Virginia Tech massacre, but for all victims of violence, anger, hatred, hunger, disease, and heartache. Before I silence myself, I thought I’d add a few notes:

*******

My friend Teamouse (Sweet Tea, as I call her…because I like sweetea, and I like her) had a great Thursday Thirteen this week, and I totally missed it. She had posted another post on top of it, and I didn’t scroll down (OK, I’m not dumb, I wasn’t feeling well). If you missed it, go read her Goof Ups. Numbers eight and ten blew my dress up.

Speaking of which, This Eclectic Life’s This Blog Blows My Dress Up Contest has 18 entries. You can read them here and you can also read the rules for the contest. If you have three funny posts, send them on to me. The deadline is May 3rd.

I’ll meet you back here on Tuesday.

Link Love for a “Newbie”

In my last post, I mentioned that in the beginning no one read my blog, so I felt as if I was talking to myself. That seemed to strike a chord with at least one other blogger. Alyssa, at I Wish has been going into my archives and commenting on those old posts, so they don’t feel so lonely. Her comments are so nice that I decided to check out her blog…and I’m delighted that I did!

Though I wrote her an e-mail asking if she wanted to send a post to link, Alyssa was too modest to do so. She said, “Mine is just a blog about me learning photography.” Not so. Alyssa’s blog is about a journey toward a dream. She secretly wants to be a professional photographer, but don’t tell anyone. Actually, if you look at her pictures, you wouldn’t know that she isn’t professional already.

Interspersed with pictures of her lovely children, including this one of her daughter at the beach, are posts with tons of information about photography and sparkling tidbits that I think she uses for self-encouragement. She also wrote a post, called Misundertanding that will seem like deja vu to any of us who have struggled with telling our dreams out loud to our loved ones.

Please take a minute to go check out the site. Comment for her, so she won’t feel so alone out there. Her blog may not get a lot of traffic right now, but it will. And, y’all want to say you “knew her when…”

Be sure to send me some humorous posts for This Eclectic Life’s This Blog Blows My Dress Up Contest.

If you are inclined to vote for me for Best Blog About Stuff, I’d be appreciative if you would click that icon in the sidebar. You were always my favorite, you know.

And come back in an hour or two. I’m editing another post for today (yes, smarty-pants, I can too make a post shorter!). I just wanted to take time out to give Alyssa a little bit of Link Love.

My Thursday Thirteen follows this post, but there are a few things I want to mention before you read further:

There’s a contest going on at my house: This Eclectic Life’s This Blog Blows My Dress Up Contest. Click the contest button on the sidebar or click on the photo (to take you to the original post). If you write any humorous essays, you might want to enter.

As you go about reading the Thursday Thirteen, spend some time finding favorites, and consider showing a little Link Love. I challenged you to do this in March. I’ll be making my list today.

Tomorrow, or later this evening, I will be posting my Link Love list as well as a partial list of “Thinking Bloggers.” TeaMouse at Tea Time Ramblings awarded me my third honor a couple of weeks ago, and I haven’t gotten to it. Sweet Tea has a contest at her house, too, giving away a lovely set of hand-knit kitchen towels and cloths. All you have to do to win is enter!

Finally, and most importantly, Happy Anniversary today to the Man Of My Dreams. It’s only been four years together, Sweet Friend and Love, but my heart knew you were there from the day I was born. Thank you for all that you are.
