About
Yes, that’s us. We look so delighted because the youngest child just graduated and we are soon to be “empty nesters!” We are going to be alone…together! He is smiling, because I haven’t told him yet that we are going to de-clutter the house!
I’m Shelly, the one on the right. He is Eric. We are both packrats. Name anything, and we have several of them. Do you have an oscilloscope? We have two or three. I don’t know what the heck a “silly scope” is, but we’ve got ‘em. I have hundreds of hats - and none of them fit my head! That’s just to name two out of thousands of “collections” we have. It’s a lot to have to maintain! Taking care of it all is time consuming and stressful!
When we joined households, we packed every closet, our “two car” garage, two sheds, and three storage units with our stuff. Over the last few years, we have culled it down by two storage units. That’s all! I have things packed away that I haven’t seen in six years. But, that’s about to change. It has to change!
Now that we have time to be together, we don’t want to spend it taking care of “stuff!” We have grand plans to move to a smaller house with less to clean and less yard to maintain. When we get our life simplified, what are we going to do with all our free time? Don’t make me draw you a picture.
This is our journey as we lighten our load and try to create a simpler life. Theoretically, I know how to get us there - and I’m researching as I go. You can hold our hands, because getting rid of “stuff” is the scariest thing we know.
That’s a lie. We raised a teenager!
